Hey everyone... i can't believe I just found this forum... been browsing for a week...

I am not into adding stuff onto cars... and I no little about the inner workings of cars... i am more a computer geek... haven't done anything up until this point... but I love my CELICA... do regular oil changes etc.... I have a Black '94 GTS... and I had a Blue '87....

It was my dream car in elementary school when my uncle drove up in his new White 5GC...

Anyhow... i just replaced the timing belt, crank seals, oil pump, water pump, and a couple other seals... just normal wear and tear...

Up until then .. i only replace the clutch, brakes, and distributor cap...

Anyhow... i am trying to preserve it as long as possible... here is my current dilema...

I have rust on the passenger side frame of the windshield... i looked under the rubber flap and noticed that it was rusting alot .... plus i have a small running crack on the windshield... can i correct the rust prob by replacing that part?? But it looks like part of the overall frame??? Should I wait till i replace the windshield??

Gonna shampoo engine in spring... and look to get some covering for exposed wires... and probably change the distributor wires... any other simple suggestions on how i can extend the life of the car... again... not really into any performance stuff..

I have that same rust problem around the windsheild. My window was replaced and i think thats the reason. I am able to peel back the seal with my fingers and see the gap. Water gets stuck down in the gap and causes the rust. I just kinda start scrapping it out and putting some of that rust dissolver stuff on it and touching it up with touchup paint. Its not perfect but i feel like its holding the rust back some so it doesnt get worse faster.

depending on how many miles your car has i would recomendd new fuel filter, new spark plug wires, new spark plugs, new distrubutor cap, new rotor. maybe flushing the coolant and a possible tranny fliud flush. o yeah and new air filter.

doing that and keeping the oil changed on a consistant basis, car clean, problems fixed, and not peeling out or beating on the car, and it will last you forever. toyotas are great cars.
