just though you guys might be interested in knowing that the 3sge transmission will work in the 6th gen with a 3sgte bolted on and its alot stronger than the GT transmission.. I stumbled across that a little while ago and called toysport to confirm it and they told me that's the transmission they now use for there swaps.

So would you say that you could also use the 3sge tranny on a built 5sfe?

thats a good question.. I dont see why not but I also dont really see the purpose of doing that as you would have to dump thousands into the 5sfe to require a stronger tranny

So you think that it actually matters which transmision you are going with, hmmm, I don't think so, why ??? I'll let you know why??? "Jspec/US-Spec MR-2 Trans" vs "US-spec GT Trans" What do you think, whoever had that turboed MR-2, was driving the car SLOW, hell no, anyone with a turboed car would beat the living crap out of it. So you do get better transmision with MR-2 overall but the condition of the MR-2 trans versus pure stock US-spec GT cannot be compared... ***** so if you compare pros and cons it kind of equalls out ***** |

The GT tranny will max out at about 250hp at the most. However the duce turbo and solara v6 tranny should hold around 350-400 hp with out a problem so wether or not the trannys took a beating or not they should be able to take the abuse. The 3sge tranny I assume is built with the same standers as the 3sgte tranny (excluding the awd) if so that means that you can push the tranny a little harder.
NEway I am planning on getting my 5sfTe project going so I should be at 200-220 hp by summer so we'll see what the gt tranny can handle then -Bryan- -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe

I've heard that the AT200 can handle up to about 200. That right?

I dont know about u but I think after spending all of the money to purchase a 3sgte and swap it in and all that the transmission choice would be pretty important... lets pretend for a minute that the transmission isnt one of the MOST IMPORTANT parts of the drive train... bolting up a transmission that is rated at 200-250hp isnt gonna last very long on an engine that ranges from 200hp up wards to 350hp on some versions - thats like makin a spacestation outta gumdrops and toothpicks - only one STUPID muthafuker is gonna think that it has a chance.. who know maybe u just like burnin up trannys... or maybe you've neverdone it and dont have a clue how much of a pain it is to replace/rebuild a transmission. Point is I was just offering up another option on the 3sgte swap and it a pretty good option at that -------------------- 99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =) |

If you can find a 3sge front clip, odds are that you can get the tranny with it also. Along with the axles and whatnot that is also needed for a swap.
