When people say they need a rebuild or jus got the engine rebuilt, what exactly is done to it?

usually replacing or re-conditioning pistons, rods, piston walls, manifolds, new gaskets... kinda depends on how bad or good of condition the engine is already in.

my friends dad with a 64 stingray just got it rebuilt. but basically all he had done was cleaned and honed and all new gaskets.
