too bad the roof is one of the main strength points on the celica cut it away and your looking for trouble but it can be done with lots of bracing etc etc.

Its better, but remember; with a convertible you've replaced the entire roof- with a regular steel roof- you'd cut it in half and still have HALF the roof weight left- leaning down on targa top or your side windows |

a T-top would not be that hard to do, you would just be stuck with a bar going accross both sides in addition to the center support, but could still be pritty cool.

Targa Top would be a bad Idea in the long run, speicaly if you ever want to swap. TTops would be possible, I saw it done on a Teggy with a cage and said he didnt have any problems but you never know. I have a 280zx with Ttops and you can feel the body twist (mind you only at 180whp) its gettin a Roll bar, and doubt that will really help much. I am gonna make a nice 5 point roll bar for the celi and call it good.

If you were going to go with a targa top, I'd start with a 'vert...otherwise I think you'd run into problems later down the line.

if you got enough money, swap a supra uper half and there you go, but its tons of work.
What about delorian doors, that is kinda allong the same lines as a t-top, and it would be sweet. just add a window in the top section of the door, or even do lexan and have it go from the top down the side. This post has been edited by creis: Oct 16, 2004 - 12:45 AM -------------------- |
