Guys is it possible to light up the tires in a stock st celica? Me and my freind were tryin to get the tires to smoke but they just won't. I pulled the e-brake as far as it can go and dumped the clutch. The car still took off, there were light tire marks on the ground but not dark ones and no smoke. There where two lines to his one but still... I have BF Goodrich tires, im so lost. Can i get a lil help or is it an issue of ponies? confused.gif

He is runing a stock RS eclipse with Goodyear tires.

simple answer you cant really "burn out" with a FWD car unless you have a good ammount of torque. to answer your question no it is not abnormal to not be able to do a "good burnout" in a 115HP Celica ST, your buddy in a RS eclipse wont be able to do a decent one either. not that it really matters.

Try this: put it in reverse, roll back at about 5mpg, then slip it into neutrel, rev up, drop the clutch (in first), and as soon as you start to spin, life the ebrake up

I dont have a problem at all smoking the tires on my stock ST.
1. very bad on car but roll your car backwards then pop the clutch in 1st and you will smoke them.

2. Pull the e-brake hard and dump the clutch at about 3k RPM.

because your car looks so fast when you can smoke your tires rolleyes.gif

hehe quick funny story i raced a V-8 formula firebird at the drag strip a few weeks ago. he had exhaust dumps and drag radials in the back. i pull into the box and begin staging, he backs into the burnout pit and just lights em up for about 30 seconds. finally he stages... good thing his car "looked fast" in the burnout box, because he got burned, not once but twice, by a little 4 cylinder on street radials which did not do a burnout all day. tongue.gif poor fast looking v-8

don't you mean mph though lol j/k

and btw my celi would burnout pretty easy, just dump the clutch none of the reverse crap, and if i used the ebrake it would smoke

If it's a manual Celica, you can smoke them. Just dump the clutch. You can make any manual tranny car burn tires. You just need to know how to.

the best burnout is on fresh new asphalt i'm talking like acouple of days old maybe a week; so new you can smell the petroleum in it. this is the best for burnouts and they leave big black marks, and they squeal loud.

pump up your tires to 70 psi.. and try it again

another way to burn out is the find some slick asphalt.. the kind that is shinny and slippery.. even my auto st can spin the tires on that stuff.

Try burning out in reverse gear because that has the most torque out of all of them, plus it will be like your car is RWD since you're going backwards.

U guys need to stop doing that stuff. ya ok one or times is alright but some people make it habit to burn out a lot and you know what that means to the car. celicas weren't designed for it so might as well make them look good instead. Also why hurt on a car that is your own to get a few looks.
