Hey guys.
As we all know the most common and favorable motor to swap in a celica is the 3sgte. And the perfect weight distribution for front -to -rear is 50/50. But how much heavier is the 3s compared to the 5sfe and 7afte. How is the balance of the celica affected after the swap? Is it going to be like a h22 swap crx? ( aka fat girl sitting on your hood?) |

Its a lil heavier because its an iron block but its not going to be so bad.

the 3sgte is about 200lbs heaver than the 5sfe. so yes it will be heavier or like a fat girl on your hood. and ive asked people here about how cornering would suffer but they all say it dosnt. but i have a feeling that understeer will increase dramaticly(spelt that wrong).

the 3sgte does add a little more weight to your car. i noticed my car sitting a little lower then before when i 1st set it down on wheels.
one of the best things about the swap is how much your car stays the same with the new engine. basically think of it as a normal Celica GT with a 5sfe motor in it, with a turbo added ontop of that. what i mean by that is that the handling and ride qualty dosnt change, but when u floor it, all hell breaks loose and the car starts to move. i always thought that toyota should have built a fwd 3sgte 6th gen, because the engine fits the car so well. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

While a 50/50 weight distribution front to rear is certainly an even distribution, it is generally regarded that the optimal weight distribution front to rear is more in the neighborhood of 46% front 54% rear. Obviously, this doesn't help much since we are talking about adding an additional 200lbs to the front of an already nose-heavy car... |

The car is very front happy ... when you get it on the left you'll really notice it... iam thinking about getting lower springs on the back to balance it out , what do you guys think?

i've decided to do the swap on Jan. i've got all quotes, gonna get the front clip from venus auto and ship it to my mechanic, total comes up to be 3400 (clip, shipping, labor) if nothing needs to be replaced. still deciding on which FMIC to get, thought of getting the Blitz FMIC and custom the piping, you guys think that's possible? i'm still looking through the forum to find as many information as i can to get a better idea on the swap. is there anyone here in NYC that'll be able to help me out? like just come over. look at my 6gc and give me a better understanding on what is gonna happen. sorry if i'm asking too many questions, this is my first swap.... btw, anyone here able to sell me a 6gc.net decal?

Our cars (FF) in stock trim are closer to 60/40 front/rear distribution. Front heavy makes understeer...

these seem like the type of questions you should be asking your mechanic. esp since you will be paying him. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
