Recently I've had both threaded oil hoses break lose and need replacement. Thats done.

Now the base fitting where the hoses connect to the engine is lose and leaks.

Basically I was wondering if this is a nessecity to my turbo 5SFE, or would just the filter be okay. Its the HKS kit, and I haven't been able to find much info on it.

Thanks.

The main reason for the relocater is access. With the 3sgte manifold and DP its a really tight fit to get the oil filter off the block. Another reason for one would be if your running a 2 filter kit, you would have the "extra cleaning power" of 2 filters and be able to hold a bit more oil than normal.

Id really like to ssee how you have it setup also if you have pics.

Yeah, thats the main problem with the hoses. You can't really hold a bend on them to keep them away from the block, and since they're so close the heat just gets to em and they break.

If I did get the filter fitted on the block would it be too close to the heat?

Also, does the circular fitting on the block just screw on? Or is it sealed some other way?

Thanks

If I understand correctly the threads are part of the block.

Have you tried steal braided lines or heat wrap?

BOTH of my steel braided lines got cracks from the heat of the block.

You think a heat wrap could with stand that?

I'd like to put a heat shield or something down there. There is an open threaded hole near this area and was wondering if a heat shield would fit. Even if it did, I'm not sure where I could get that piece.

I think this weekend Ill attached just the filter on and see how it runs. Pics of my bay would definitely help, I'll try to get some soon.

Profile has pics now.

The 'O' rings on the fitting are compressed pretty far. Right now the fitting tightens too much and cause the hose to sit horizontal. Obviously that is way too close to the manifold to withstand the heat. I think replacing the rings might cause it to tighten and stop correctly.

I'll be checking my local performance shops on Monday to see if they have these rings.
