Hey guys. Since I still have my old 4th gen GT-S sitting around with a freshly rebuilt 3sge I was wondering if there would be anything that would be worth swapping into my 5sfe. I'm really not sure what, if anything, would be compatible to swap, but I figured you guys would have an idea. Thanks.

I thought the first gen 3SGE wasn't as good an engine? 2.0l 135hp 125lb/ft compared to 2.2l 135hp 145lb/ft... so a little bigger engine with a little bit more torque. My 6th gen feels like it has quite a bit better acceleration as well.

the 3sge is rated somehwere around 175 hp. your thinking of the 3sFE which is the economy crap version.

um you could macine the valve seats and put the 3sge valve in there thatd be pretty bad ass. the exaust manifold would be pretty cool also. and im unsure if the intake manifold would fit. but yeah you should defintly just swap the whole engine. -------------------- Former: 96 GT 5 speed (i/p/e) Fate- rear ended by mack truck

You guys are confused. I said 1st gen 3SGE. The one that was in the 4th gen GT-S. This is not the 3SFE and this is not the 175hp version. http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/3sgestats.htm That's the engine I am talking about. |

I may try it out, but would they actually be worth swapping? There's nothing that is in bad shape on my 5s that needs replacement so I'd only swap something if there was performance or quality to be gained. |

I wouldn't swap anything. The 5SFE is the SUCCESOR to that particular 3SGE in the united states. The 3SGE has far more potential... but isn't all that in stock trim.

I say you should tweek the engine while it is in the 4th gen, see if you can get some real power/torque, and then swap it if you get something good, but i wouldn't waste my time swapping if there was no real benefit ya know.
