Hey there ive been looking at the stock airbox. It looks as if it gets fed air thats sucked in through a scoop in the front bumper. I have a 95 and i know that the front bumber on the 96 and up is diffrent and as such the scoop on my car could not go on a 96+ as it would end up where the fog light is supose to be.

If infact the air on a 94-95 celica is sucked in through a scoop in the corner of the front bumber then how is it set up on the 96+.

Well i took my stock airbox and piping out of my 95 gt today and found that indeed the air is not sucked as it would be in a cold air system.

Theres a small scoop in the bumber (smily part) on the divers side that scoops air into the driver side fender area right infront of the wheel well. It is here that the air meets the airbox. Via a plastic pipe that pops out the side and into the fender area the cold air from the scoop in the bumper is sucked into the air box.

Between the airbox and the pipe/intake mouth is a thing that captures any water that may be injested.

If water got as far as your airbox, that thing wouldn't stop it.

It's purpose is actually a resonator- makes your intake quieter.

Doesn't have anything to do with sand, water, etc

btw the reason why i took apart my stock intake was because with $18.99 worth in parts, Dremel, hacksaw, and a few hours later and i had cold air.

Will post a thread and pix soon
