 Rear Brakes GT (ASAP PLEASE), Getting them off |

I'm having trouble getting my rear brakes off, it isn't like a honda or any other american car where there is two bolts, one on the bottom side of the caliper, and one on top. But on the toyota GT, there's only one on the bottom. Um.....so how do i get it off? THANKS

there are two bolts. One on top and bottom of the caliper... If there is only 1 bolt, you are missing one. Just remove the bottom one and the cliper will slide off. THen use a bolt to screw in to the small holes on the rotor to pop it off

no, one is not missing, on my GT brakes, there's a bolt on the bottom of the caliper, but on top, it's a rubber grommet of some sort.

then there is something wirn with your calipers, I swapped my rears to GT's and they are both bolts that hold the caliper to the backing plate. I guess take it to the dealer if you can't get it off

Just remove that one bolt and lift the caliper. You still need to remove 2 other bolts in order to remove the rotor and the pads behind the rotor. -------------------- '99 Convertible

There's 2 pieces. If you want to remove the caliper... remove the two bolts on the caliper bracket... not on the caliper itself. There's only one bolt on the caliper (bottom) and a sliding pin on the top.

how does the sliding pin work? i'm just trying to get to the brake pads
