Just a few days ago my turbo on my 1991 MR2 started to squeak when it spools up. I've heard other turboed cars do this before, but I don't know if it means something is wrong or not. It kinda just makes a high pitched squeaking noise when it's boosting... and there's no loss in power either. Any ideas?
BTW it's an ihi-rhc6 turbo, if that helps. |

squeek as in what loose belts make when you start a car?
does it do it the whole time the car is boosting? usually when a noise just shows up, its not a good thing. check for shaft play and keep an eye on your oil and coolant levels -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Hmm, why do you say coolant level? Because about the same time this started, the engine temp (according to the gauge) was colder than usual and took longer to warm up...
edit: Yes, it sounds kind of like a loose belt, and it does it the whole time the car is boosting. This post has been edited by YellowTwo: Nov 9, 2004 - 11:22 PM |

well if its a water and oil cooled turbo something might have gone wrong causing a leak somewhere. just said to check it cuz it doesnt hurt too. as for taking a long time to warm up and not running at the same temp, replace the thermostat. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition
