Haha yeah the good ole' yellow! Didn't really think of that - strangely enough But still, it would be cool to see some Kiwis that have experience with certain dealers etc. I'm haggling with this place in Welly called SLAP! who I've been referred to from some people on NZ perfomance car forums - decent enough blokes. Don't know if you've ever seen or heard of the car before - but they did the I.C.E in HOTGRL's car (the pink Primera). - They say I'll have to be charged extra for the front speaker install though, because they are bigger speakers than normal or something? Better be....
And yeah after indulging in a bit of checking myself, I've also been told that there are a lot of quality dealers that don't advertise online. I've also got my Brother-in-law in Adelaide lookin for me, which can hopefully turn something up. Cheers for the help guys. This post has been edited by drizzt_stylez_nz: Nov 24, 2004 - 3:55 PM |

Hey guys,
I've been in talks with the guy from SLAP!, and I've told him that I want an amp for the sub (mono - correct me if I'm wrong), and an amp to run the front splits (4 channel, again correct me if I'm wrong). But as you can see below, he's telling me that there is no need for two amps ? QUOTE(SLAP! Guy @ Nov 26, 2004 - 5:12 PM (GMT+12)) There is no reason for getting two amps. A 4channels will be just as good as 2 x 2channels. Getting a 4channel may be cheaper also and will be cheaper to install. Is he right? Maybe he is misunderstanding me, but he is talking about running the sub AND the splits off the same, 4 channel amp?? Because yeah it will save me money blah blah blah, but I'm more interested in a quality sounding system. Surely if you have an amp dedicated to your bass/sub, and an amp for the other speaker stuff, it will produce better power, and more importantly, better sound? Again, please correct me if I'm wrong. If skimping on money means skimping on quality then I'm not interested . I've got enough money to buy better than average gear, so I'm not too worried about price - as long as it sounds good. Any help appreciated. |

using a 4 channel amp on your sub will lower the quality, 4 channel amps arent made for powering subs, although you can use it. it is best to use a mono amp and a 4 channel amp for your speakers. you say you have the money and this is your best route. saving money is a good thing but not if it will lower the quality.
think twice, buy once. -------------------- i want a stereo so loud, it blows womens clothes off.

Yeah thats exactly what I was thinking (about quality). Thanks Scarrell. I'll email the guy back and tell him I'm not interested in 1 amp for the whole system.
I've got my eyes set on a 12" premier (pioneer) sub that I'm definitely interested in buying. Its got 750WRMS, but what I'm worried about is that its an SPL sub.... does that mean you sacrifice good sounding audio for....loudness? Just wondering, but all I'm interested in is wether it provides good sound. I'll get back to you guys once I've sorted this out. Thanks for all your help. Cheers, Kieran. |

Just an update....
Have found a guy close to me who will install at a pretty reasonable rate. Have also found an NZ car audio site which has been pretty helpful, and have found some pretty good quality gear for low prices (sold on from abandoned projects etc). I'm looking at Caliber amp's (C475 and CA2000D), Boston Acoutic 6.5inch Pro's for the front components and a 12" Digital Designs sub. Its all looking good, and hopefully will have pics up of the results by the new year. Thanks for your help everybody! . Cheers, Kieran. |
