We'll I was in a chat room when we started talking about cars. This one guy was talking about how horrible my Celica is and that I should trash it because it was very unreliable. He then started bragging about GM. I said taht my Toyota was a very reliable car and that I loved it.....because thats all that matters right? Then he started saying how the Celica is the gayest car in the world and worse than a Civic. I asked him "how would you know? you never owned a Celica before!" He then replied that he did and it was the worst car he ever had. He said that "when I put it in the Toyota dealership they didn't know how to fix it...those toyota guys are all losers". I just sat there waiting for my response.....I didn't want to diss GM because I do like GM and all. I then asked him if his GM broke down before and he replied with a "yes". He then said

"I would take a GM rather than a Toyota anyday......at least those guys know how to fix them other than your crap cars"

then I replied with a...

"GM knows how to fix them because they break down all the freakin time!"

Good comeback? yes? no? oh well lol...i'm bored.just thought i'd post it ahah

lol biggrin.gif

IMO general motors is a dying company. they used to have a good market where young 'uns would get pontiacs or saturns, then as we get older we trade it in for a chevy or buick, as we have families we get GMC's or Saab's, then when we get even older we get cadillacs or oldsmobiles, but they really haven't shown alot of improvement despite their large number of "brands". In fact they were deciding on pulling oldsmobile out of their line-up as well as other decisions to cut costs. It is a good company, but its out of its time.

that whole dispute never gets anywhere, quoted from my post in OT:
"you never get anywhere with the import vs domestic dispute. the fact is you cant compare "all imports" are better than "all domestics" or vise versa... fact is theres lots of imports that can rape most domestics, and lots of domestic that can rape most imports... a car is a car, its a frame, wheels, suspension, engine, drivetrain, and a little seat... if you know what you are doing and have some cash to back it up... anything can beat anything."

somewhat applies here, although it applied alot better in the other thread lol

i find it funny out of all of us celica owners who end up in this dispute, 9 outa ten times its the domestic owner who starts the topic rolleyes.gif

yes it is not at all worth argueing with a domestic owner, HELL, any kind of car. if the guy likes the car, he wont stop supporting it

and with GM, they know how to fix everything because they havent changed a single damn thing for the past 50 years. all they did was change body styles and add fuel injection. and some of their newer cars are actually toyotas(the vibe, some cavaliers, etc, the engines in geos)

i personally, dont have a preferance on cars(for the most part) a car is a car, and all are engineering marvels. all of them must be respected for what they are

but there is no chance in hell that a GM anything will be as reliable as a toyota. my friend's 1998 gmc sierra is at 103k mi and it has blown an intake manifold gasket, 2 alternators, master cylinder, injectors, bad freeze plugs. all that has been changed out and he EXPECTS the tranny to die at 150k miles, that is the expected life on almost all of their truck/suv tranny's with the v8 engines, lol

how is that for reliable? biggrin.gif (btw he has only had the car for the past 6000 miles, who knows what happened before he bought it)

nothing beats honda and Toyota(and their subsidaries) for reliability

BTW, i find that most GM owners(mainly the trucks and SUV's) are real assholes, and they do start arguements(and the arguements are not fun like one with a ricer)

GM...??!?!?! whos that?? lol every domestic car I have ever had broke with in a year....

but then every import I have had runs like a champ.. hell I had a 86 prelude that had over 200k on it and it still ran awesome.. even after two REALLY bad wreaks that probably shoulda killed me or at least mess me up really good....

kinda think I know where my loyalty is biggrin.gif
