ok, my key wont turn the ignition, my steering wheel locked up, and i cant turn my key when i put it in the ignition, how do i get it to unlock? i dont have a security thing, its just some built in thing, most cars have it, but how do i get it undone?

pull the steering wheel to the right alittle bit while having the key in the ignition and turn it the same time u pull the steering wheel to the right.

And for future reference, turning the wheel while the car is off (while the key isn't in the on position) locks the wheel/ignition.

Did you try to turn the key and go side to side with your steering wheel.Maybe its just locked.

i know what it is, just about all cars have it, but i didnt know how to undo it, and i needed to leave to get to thanks giving at my cousins. I dont tilt my wheel up when i get in and out, so i hit it with my legs sometimes locking it, but i couldnt get it go unlock this time. like with my fords, you had to keep turning the wheel all the way to the left, then start the car, then it would unlock. thanks for your help though guys, its really appreciated.

oh, and New Richmond is by Hudson. I'm actually like 15 miles east of New Richmond, but all the other towns are so small. I goto school in Clear Lake....but you never been there, lol.

yeah, but ive only had the car for 3 weeks....and it figures it would happen when i actually need to be somewhere... i actually figured it out before anyone replied, but im still glad u guys are so nice on here.

basically part of the twin cities now....only in WI. im about 50 miles east of St. Paul
hudson is a little south of me, mainly west. if you look at a map, hudson is where I-94 goes into MN.

it's either that like what the others said bout moving the steering wheel or you can simply try inserting the key the other side up. i worked for me. biggrin.gif
