so yesterday im out cleaning up the glass outta my car, and taking the door panel off so i can easily put the new glass in when i get it... i guess when i closed my door i didnt close it all the way, so my battery died... i get my jump box thing (which didnt have enough juice to start my car), and put that on, and nothing... the car was getting no power.... so i toggle this switch and press this button

which i believe are linked to the factory alarm i had in the car, but had removed.... so it gets power, enough to power locks, windows, etc, but not enough to start the car... well later somebody comes home and can jump the car, so we hook everything up and it goes back to being completely dead... its not getting any power, and i know its related to my old alarm... so does anybody have any suggestions, or know exactly what that switch and button do? they're in the little part below the steering wheel with the fuses.... thanks...

same thing happend to my friend with a chevy truck, turned out to be his alternator. have your alternator checked (or was it his carbeurator... i dunno) but definately get the alternator checked.

carbs give it fuel wink.gif Old Skool way of delivering fuel. We have fuel injection via a fuel rail. They had 4 barrel carbs if they were lucky.

alternator is what charges the battery. however, this wouldn't be the cause of his battery not working at all. Just not charging. If he charges his car up to 12V and it slowly goes down to 0V with the car on, then his alternator is bad.

With someone on the jumpbox and you got nothing? It COULD be a bad battery. Even if it were your alarm (because I ran across this with another Celica before) the car would power up (lights, gizmos, whatnot) but do nothing when you try and start it. Its a fail safe because it thinks you stole your car. What you need to do is reset the alarm once the car is powered by playing with the red button switch. I cant remember what we did (hold, press many times, ???) but we finally figured it out. But back to the battery part, again, your car should have power. Keep up updated.

cant do that in an auto =)

ok... well it turns out i just had a completely dead battery... i dont know how he did it, but when i tried jumping it with the kid across the hall, he didnt put the cables on his battery right cuz i got nothing from him... hence thats why i thought it was more than my battery.... but i jumped it with a friend and let it run for about 3 hours to charge up the battery, so its all good now.... and i got a window in finally =)
