Ok so the Australian car licencing system is like this:
At 16years old you get your "L"s, that means you can only do upto 80km/h and you have to have a full license driver next to you. At 17yrs (and after 50hrs and 6months experience) you can go for your red "P"s, you now need no driver next to you and you can go up to 90. Then at some point (i forget when) you can get your green "P"s, which means you can goto 100. Then after that you can get your full license. I have no problem with this (apart from it takes ages). But now the gov wants to intro a cerfew (10:00pm) to P drivers (i think its only red) and that they can only have one passanger and no "hotted up" cars are allowed. This just pisses me off, i work which usually means i dont get home till after 10. Also i want to get a nice car. Also by some wild chance i have more than one friend. OSIRIS angry!!! NH has the curfew and limit on passengers. I know here tho if you have a job you can carry a note from the company saying you work till x hour.

Well in Ga you had to take an anti drug course and then when you got your license it was something like 6 months without non family members in your car. Here in Indiana its just 3 months without passengers that aren't family but I haven't been paying attention to that even though I have to wait another 16 days to do it legally.

In Louisiana you have to be off the road by 11 p.m. if your 16. Once your 17 your free to do anything.

In Wisconsin, get your license at 16, then you can only have one passenger other than family members, and off the roads by 12, unless going to or coming from work, school, etc.....then after 9? months, ur totally free. (unless ur like me and get it extended because of a speeding ticket, but im 18 now, so it doesnt matter anyways)

Wow I guess Minnesota is pretty cool. I can have as many passengers as my car can hold, stay out as late as I want.

Osiris, that sucks...I've read a lot on ToyMods about how people hate all the strict rules they have going on over there.

this is what we have in bc, canada. Cant start driving till you are 16
take 1 written test then you get your L for 12 months.... no driving after 12am, fully licensed adult over the age of 25. one passenger, no alcohol in system take a driving test to get your N for 24 months..... no alcohol in system, can only have one friend in car, no limit on family members then you have to take another driving test to get your regular license it sucks, but the system has been proven to work the only downside is how much it costs.... each test is $50 and then $45 for a new license every time a test is passed.... ugh ![]() glad i already completed my driving before this stuff came in ![]() This post has been edited by wind: Nov 30, 2004 - 9:09 PM |

I'm in Utah, you're pretty much free when you hit 16.
edit: That was a few years back... may have changed since I got mine. Idaho on the other hand... you can drive with relatives at 14 before dark. Unrestricted at 15 as far as I know. This post has been edited by ComaDave: Nov 30, 2004 - 10:10 PM -------------------- ![]() |

well in oregon, its highly recommended that when we get the permit (at the age of 15+) to take a drivers ed course to help reduce crashes and insurance and such. and ur only allowed to drive when u have a permit with someone 21 or older with a drivers license more than 3 years. then when u get the drivers license no one outside your immediate family (meaning no relatives) for 6 months AND you also have a curfew of 10 o clock unless u have a job that u work longer than that and u dont need a note but u need the phone number handy for the manager (never effected me really, never had a job till i got my full license) and then when u get your full license u dont have a curfew nemore but ur limited to 3 passengers in your vehicle (doesnt affect me either, celi only has 3 other seat belts) and ur not allowed to have engine swaps to added 2x more hp, and no turbo, supercharger or high hp mods and have strict laws on lowering until u A) pay off your car in full (which i have like 2k left on my car, really sucks) and then all the high hp mods law doesnt effect you (and i've checked all the auto insurances, they're all the same for ppl in oregon my age) and or b) 24 years of age or older then hp mods dont matter neither... im getting really slammed right now cuz im wanting atleast a 2.0" drop and im trying to get intouch with my insurance agent. muhaha this is my longest post *wewt.
