I was wondering, if cutting the bottom of the license plate off would be illgeal? It would be right after the numbers, therefore only cuttin off usless 2 inch's of blank space. I know, it might very from state to state, but any body have some input?

I was wondering this myself for the front plate. Why do I need 2 inch's on white space blocking airflow into my car. And then, why do I have to broadcast that i'm from Wisconsin on the front when its clearly visible on the back. The numbers are whats important anyway, and if I just had numbers, no extra, then the front plate wouldn't be too bad. I'd just tuck it a little under the lip and have a 1&1/2 inch plate of just numbers. Just a thought. I have no clue whether its legal or not. My brother is a cop and I plan to ask him. I've known many people who have bent the plate after the numbers so its not so .... blockable. I'll let you know. WOW I TYPED ALOT.

yes, its is very very illegal. It doesnt vary with state... altering anything that is federal or state issued to the point where it not still in its original form is illegal.

anything resticting view of the ENTIRE plate is illegal, TECHNICALLY by the word of the law you can get pulled over for license plate covers. nor can you paint or tint a plate.

I dont use the front license plate. I do carry it in my car just in case I do get pulled over, I can tell them that one of the bolts came undone and it was just hanging there, so i took it off. Hope it works.

Then again maybe you are talking about the back plate hmmm They do...I've been pulled over a few times for those times when I didn't have the front plate on. One time I asked the officer if I could cut the plate to make it fit in the grill, and he said that'd be fine. So it's been cut for a while...cops around here don't care if it's cut it seems, because they never harass me over that. 6GC.net window stickers, on the other hand, are big trouble and could cause severe accidents(according to cops.) -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I was more talking about the rear plate. I dont have to front one on. I have it in my car, but I havnt used one in Md for over 2 years. never had a problem. I might not cut it anyways, What i was thinking, might just look a lil funny. I was gunna make a retractable arm that would sit right under my rear bumper. but i think even with cutting it, its going to sit to low. I think im just going to mold it into the bumper without cutting, thats guys for the feed-back though.

I have an idea. What if u use plexi glass for the rear panel and smoke it? Have your plates behind the plexi with some strong light so its visible while the car is on. No? n/m
