Engine question Options

I have a 94 celica st .....what's the best way to get more power? New engine? Bore out the engine i have now? Is it a pain in the ass to do a 3s-gte swap? does anyone know any place around Connecticut to get good work done on celicas?

I also have a '94 ST and everyone I have talked to about this subject recomends the 3s-gte as opposed to doing any mods to the stock engine. The engine itself isn't known for producing much power and there isn't much aftermarket support for it at all. The engine swap might be a pain in the ass but if you really want your Celica to preform, its pretty much a must.

htere are many more options out there than the 3sgte. also, many more that would work well, and give you enought power in the celica body. things like the 20v blacktop 4age, or the silvertop. there's also the levin 4agze that comes w/ lsd. mmmm, that's what i'm thinkin about. but all these engines drop right in the ST and use the same motor mounts, and also work w/ the ST axles, so there's no custom work there. the 3sgte is much easier to drop in the GT, and that's only if you wnat insane amounts of power..but if you think about it. do you really want a car w/ that much power, and a FF drive train? can you say PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH? w00t. anyway, i'm goin the 4agze i belive, for around 3k i can get the levin ae101 front clip w/ everything i need. and no custom work other than wiring. wheeee.

the 3sgte swap is really easy to do yourself just be sure that you by the TOYOTA REPAIR MANUAL.... don't use chilton's cuz it's wrong.

Newayz the 4agze out of the mr2 or levins do not work in the 6th gen.... different subfames.... not trying to get on you myneyes but I looked into this swap and it's way too much work and money... eventhough I really like the idea of 8 sparks in a four cylinder... not to mention a charger...mmmmmm.

The 3sgte is the engine of choice for a 6th gen... usally under 5k for the swap, easy to reach 400hp+ and tons of aftermarket support...

ive seen 3-sgte engines for sale at pretty low prices. try toysport.com. im not sure the engine will drop right into the st though. you may need to to some work with the mounts. but if you do it you are probably looking at buying the engine, you will need to get the ecu for the 3-sgte. or you could just do a stand alone engine management, its a little pricey though. infact a few people i know that did this swap said that they had trouble running it with the regular ecu and decided to go with the stand alone unit so that they coud run there own maps. the 3-sgte is in my opinion the best idea for high horses. but if you are just looking for something with a little more power and options just find a used 5-sfe, im pretty happy with mine.
