Recall Date:
JAN 03, 1996

Model Affected:
1996 TOYOTA CELICA

Summary:
THESE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS FAIL TO HOLD THE SPEED SET BY THE DRIVER AND CAN ACCELERATE ABOVE THE INTENDED SET SPEED.

Consequence:
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION CAN INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THESE CRUISE CONTROL ASSEMBLIES.

Potential Units Affected:
5145

Notes:

Usdm uses CC, airbag and ABS...

i have a 97 celi and my cruz control doesnt even work i had to unplug it the motor or w/e that it uses to engage the throttle doesnt click on so its worthless in my car i wonder if this is a defect they know about ne one else with the same problem?

I never figured out how to use my cruise control... I got it to work only two times, even though I fidgeted with it for quite a while! it's ok though, I pulled it out a couple days ago to make room for my turbo wink.gif
