I know Vangsta will know what I mean... ;] What the hell? You're asian? Why is your handle Kwanza? lol OOK, Well, Dad is/was and Educator (Principal, retired, now part time teacher=semi hobbie) Mom has worked for the state for eternity. Now she is the personell manager for the state department of the Treasury... which is sweet because I could go just about anywhere in the capital as a kid. I freakin have locked the big honkin vault in the reinforced bunker type place in the basement.= really cool. Success? ehh. I think both my rents are successful. they have provided my brother and I with a high standard of living, and a great understanding of life and how to live (kept us straight, make us pay for college and other such things while providing us with cars and when they are generous, gas money. ) It's a good life. I love my parents to death, although my mom can be a pain when I come in late on the weekends. |

My parents combined bring home around 100k, and they just get by with all there bills, Ive learned my lesson being on my own, don't spend money you dont have and you'll be much more happy, worrying about money just takes away from the quality of life. |

well, currently
my dad is in a comma. before that, when he came home from vietnam, he got a job with only a HS degree and some college units working at lockheed fixing airplanes. had that job for 32 years, untill his massive heart attack last May. at the time he was making $60k a year depending on how much overtime he took on. he invested his money in real estate with his brother and dad. we currently own several appartment buildings and shopping centers which are covering the massive fees of taking care of someone that is in a comma since i was 8 i was helping my dad do all the repairs on our appartment buildings. i even helped him reroof our old house which we sold to pay off our current house and invest in an office building and another shopping center. its a good thing we did that, otherwise we would have lost the house we live in when my dad went into the comma. btw, we purchased the house we live in 14 years ago at $260k. its now worth over $600k, and its paid off. my mom also has a HS degree and some college. she recently took up real estate again, she stopped when my dad first got in the comma. she was making 30-40k a year, but since May, she hasnt made much of anything. as of now i do little computer repair jobs to earn my spending money. i maintain the home and the cars and still make repairs at the appartments, which i do to have my mom pay for my WRX. last month i did over $1k in repairs to one appartment alone. im also in college, studying to be a mechanical engineer. as soon as i am done with that i will support my mom and put my sister through college. so for now, i technically dont bring money in, but i do my best to make sure as little goes out as possible. summary- parents worked their asses off so that my sister and i could have a good life and get college educations to in turn, support them when they need it. sadly, my parents will need the support sooner than planned. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

My parents are loaded. They make around $180,000 a year together. You'd never know it to look at us. We live like poor people and we drive crappy cars. Mines the best of all ours and we bought it for $5000. I hate that my parents have money but they don't give me or my brother any and we have to live in a ****ty house. If we were poor it would be okay, because there would be a reason why we can't have anything.
By the way, when I say we bought my car. I mean I paid $3000, my grandparents paid $1000, and my parents paid $1000. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy

my mom doesnt work and my dad is a salesman - they get buy! but when no ones getting in car accidents then times get hard!
i consider them successes cuz they have raised my brother and i very well!! u cant consider success by how much someone makes! and my parents give up everything for my brother and i! i think my mom went about 10 years without new clothes so that my bro and i could have things. Im so lucky to have parents like them - i can only hope that i will be like them when i have kids! my mom has MS so she is very sick and her immune system is very weak but she comes off so strong!!++ but down the line when my grandpa bites the dust - my brother and i will each have a house! so atleast we dont have to worry about buying our first houses cuz they will be handed to us! so in the end my parents have played their cards right! I remember my dad was always frugal, he didnt get Highspeed internet until recently, when his his annual income is something like 7times what i make. I still drive my celica, and Could I buy something more expenses, hell ya, but I hate pretensious people. Thus I would never buy a Mercedes or some stupid luxery car. In fact I only drive my celica on the weekends on when im picking up a girl, other than that I just drive my 2002 Hyundai Sonata to work and around town This post has been edited by coustoe: Dec 15, 2004 - 9:37 PM |

Yeah, I completely understand not just throwing money around. But in the winter we have to keep the house at like 65degrees, and in the summer we can't use the airconditioner. I don't ask for money, just about everything I have I eared. I just hate going home now (I'm away at college), because it's cold and run down. There's no point in letting things run down and not using heat and never buying anything to injoy yourself if you have the money. If you work for it and you earn it, why cant you injoy it? Don't get me wrong, but I thought that was the whole point in making money.

haha, ya I remember always being cold in the winters at home, I never saw the point but we would always stock up on fire wood for the winter and thats how we would heat our house, I remember going out in 4 feet of snow to get firewood then huddling around the fireplace. My dad was weird like that, would skimp on the most stupid things, but I always remember our house being nice, I think he just thought the money could be spent on better things like family vacations around the states and to different countries. oh yea, the college dorms arent that great, your home gotta be more comfy then the dorms. We hardly ever go on vaction either, last time was when I was 13. I'm 20 now. We burn firewood too. Most every one I know around were I live does. A bunch a country folk I guess. My girlfriend says I look like an old redneck, the way I dress an act. I'm just saying that it sucks to have money and never get to spend it.
