Does anyone know where I might be able to find a rare JDM ECU? Specifically, I'm looking for a JDM ECU for the ST162 Celica with the 3S-GE. It would allow me to make quite a few more horsepower(JDM ST162s have 160 horsepower, not 135 like mine.)

So far I've asked Intec Racing(shop in Seattle), HorsepowerFreaks(shop in Portland), Kwanza, Bryan(the devilmaycrie), a couple sellers selling JDM first gen. 3S-GEs on eBay, the local tuner shops, people in Australia on the ToyMods forum, etc. But no-one seems to have any idea where to find one.

Anyone have any ideas? smile.gif

Ricer? The JDM ECU uses different fuel maps to produce more power. All I do is plug it in...no wiring changes needed. And I'll have to run 92 octane as well, and then the car will produce more power. I'm sure the EGR robs a small amount of power, but that's the only difference between the JDM and USDM first generation 3S-GE. smile.gif

1bwilson, I'll have to get in contact with Bulletproof and see if they can help me. Thanks! smile.gif

Anyone else have any ideas?

Changing out the ECU does not make you rice- usually it's one of the best ways to make more HP

Yep, hardcore tuning people don't convert to standalone ECUs and such for the "bling" factor or anything. wink.gif

I just sent off an email to Roo, so maybe I'll get a reply back. smile.gif

make SURE you get an 86 or 87 ecu as well- those are the ones that make 160 ps... 88 and 89 JDM 3S-GE's only make 140 ps.

That's interesting to know...I'd always heard that they were 160 PS(oops...I meant PS in my first post too. wink.gif) And I'd read sites where people say that their JDM '88 GT-Rs and '88 GTs have 160 PS. Where'd you hear the 140 PS from?

You don't like Intec? They seem to know their stuff...one of my friends has his Celica there for a 20V 4A-GE swap. And their AE86 with the silvertop is awesome! biggrin.gif

Can you get me a number or email address for Pit Stop? Where exactly are they located?

I doubt the second gen. 3S-GE ECU would plug right in and work. You never know though.

And thanks for the info Natalie. smile.gif
