Well im finaly putting the car backtogether. and im down to the last thing of this wire.
it comes off the negative termanal from the battery, and spilits into 2. the 1 part of the wire grounds into the front of the car on the chases near bumper. the other one i have no idea. here are some pics. yellow wire goes to this.. thats in the front of the battery near bumper. now for the red wire i have no idea. here are some pcis does any one hvae any idea where it mounts 2? thanks |

correct me if im wrong but isnt that the tranny ground?

its the tranny ground, or engine block ground, my money is it being for the block the tranny is kinda already grounded though the mounts, where as the motor is sitting on rubber bushings, but I may be wrong.

That goes to the top of the tranny. A 14mm bolt holds it on I believe.

yep 14mm tranny ground...dont drive the car without it or you may start a fire! (not joking)

[right][snapback]225458[/snapback][/right] Actually, no, the red one NEEDS to be bolted to the engine block or transmission, the yellow one is going to the chassis. what could happen if you bolt both to the chassis is you could fry several things next time you engage the starter as you no longer have the main ground from the starter (bolted to the block) back to the battery, current will take the next lowest resistance path - if at all, usually thru the ignition module and/or switch or possibly your throttle cable or shift cable - not a pretty sight - putting 100-200 amps thru an unintended path / he was not kidding about the fire. I have seen all 3 of the above happen. |
