yeah thats one of the many stuff for christmas i got. me and my dad are like stereo newbs so its taken us awhile to figure out the wiring and such (other than the fact that he's a electrical engineer ) but we started it at 3:10 and its now 8:37 and we stopped at 8:22 ish and the only reason why we stopped is because the drill we had wasnt charged to drill a hole into the firewall to feed the power source/cable, whatever. and it kinda pissed me off i really wanted to hear the subs go thumpie . high enticpation, im waking up early tommorow (10 o clock is early on winter break he he) but i got pictures of it before and such that we put it in. i mounted the amp on the back of the subs, i read somewhere thats a no no... but i really didnt have newhere else to put it. i have a 2 year warranty reguardless. so tommorow when its all done and cleaned up ill post pictures and such.

QUOTE umm, no comment. well said. ok i'm kinda hazy on how your doing the wireing for that, and should mention that amps dont work the way your setup is asking for, I highly doubt that your gana get the full potential (400 watts) out of that amp if its not briged. you cant really program the amp to run diff. levels of power per chennel. it sounds like your 2 12" are with tweeters meaning that its one hook up for each sub/tweeter, 2 in all, leaving you with 2 extra chennels for the reg speakers. Read the manual your probibly pushing 50 watts per chennel (200 watts) at 4 ohm if its not briged. and only 400 watts if briged and 2 ohm (if its 2 ohm stable) -------------------- |

id get a whole new setup.... is this one of them boxes with the subs in it and tweeters on the top left/right? if so thats a fullrange box... anyway, man id take the stuff back.... not to be mean but Pyramid is horrible stuff.. dunno about the amp.... dunno why you would want a 4 channel amp for subs... but ohwell i guess... good luck with it anyway.

it isnt right? why isnt it right? them amps and subs you have are probably 1100watts max... and that isnt nothin special..... i only have 150rms to my 15" and it does the job well, you dont need a million watts to go loud. what i was saying is that the equipment he has is junk. and will probably fail soon enough. Playr, i hope you arent looking at the MAX rating of your amps/subs/speakers, because that doesnt matter, you look at the RMS in the car audio world.

lol you all think you know everything there is to know. you guys on 6gc flame everything some one has unless they didnt spend 1000 dollars on it, its just a beginners start for me. and no its not a "redneck job" in actuality with the hours of work it took 2, the rest of the time my father was figuring out the wiring and the best set up and dont even say you have a degree in the electric field and has had atleast 20 years + of experience, and i dont care if it breaks, im running it so low (volume wise) its barely hitting. and also it wasnt much at all money wise so what. you people disgust me. im surpsised you ppl didnt call it ricey, PLZ someone post next calling it ricey. or atleast well, u shoulda spent that money on a 3sgte ... the list goes on.

i didnt spend a $1000, i spent less than $200 on my system.... and im "flaming" yours because its low quality equipment.... you shouldnt get low quality stuff, but i guess you dont want your stuff to last longer than a couple years... my point is think twice and buy once...
EDIT: oh and it took me 12 hours to get mine installed in the freezing cold... also if your dad has 20+ years, then he should know Pyramid is complete crap... This post has been edited by Scarrell: Dec 28, 2004 - 7:53 AM -------------------- i want a stereo so loud, it blows womens clothes off.

UMM hello that is RMS lol i'm good with sound systems i'mmaking my own custom enclosure....try 2200wRMS combined mwahhhahahah and 12 hours what the heck?? for a basic headunit, enclosure, and amp should take no longer then 2-5 hours and i wasn't waving the rice flag cause i'm not i'm just saying before you do a setup you should research and learn what is decent and what isn't and pyramid probably is bottom of the barrel |

and im sure you are running Audiobahn(HHHAHAAHAA) anyway.... 2200REAL rms? doubtfull, ever seen the inside of Audiobahn stuff? id rather look at Wal Mart products.. also i dont know if you know.... by my box isnt your regular box... it isnt sealed..... it isnt just thrown together.... i used a CAD program to design the box, and then i had to measure the trunk and everything.... my box is 4^3cf tuned to 28hz in a hatchback Celica.... you just cant build a vented box and thats it.. when tuning a box you have to have Everything sealed and exact or you will mess up the tuning of the box and can damage the sub. sorry but you might be "good" with car audio, but im cautious and i take my time.. i guess you are special because it takes you 5 hours....and as you said "basic" my setup isnt basic.

wow i'm impressed i give you props for using CAD probably the only one here that has done that very nice...yes i'm using audiobahn but the ones better then walmart lol
and yes 2000RMS TRUE and no i just don't through it together thats witha a pre box as i said basic as quality/upgrade goes time goes up no doubt i'll end up spending about 1-3 months on my box designing and tuning and such....blah i hate vented personally i don't think it looks or sounds as good as a sealed personally...and yes i get everything tunned thank you....i have many friends and many shops and many things on my own;) but props if your doing it right i just don't get all that time for pyramid>??? and i doubt anyone else here would as well...if your going to spend the time make it full value and get a good quality system but sorry audiobahn is better than Pyramid anyone here will agree to that...personally i give you prop for the preparation just not the choice in equipment but hey its your car knock yourself out |

First off - go easy on this guy he just got his first setup for xmas and you guys are bashin it. Is it the greatest no but he already stated he's a newb you gotta start somewhere.
Secondly you can most definately power 2 12'' subs with a 400W amp. I am powering my 2 12'' JLs with a 350W amp. This guys now never going to post a question regarding anything audio cuz you guys probably made him feel like crap. -------------------- |
