I made this thread basically for archival purposes. I have a 95 Celica ST and installed 92 GTS rear disk brakes on it. They work fine... just be sure to adjust the E-brake before you install the rotors. frown.gif

Did the e-brake cables from the fifth gen. GT-S work?

I had the e brake cables from the 5th gen. I Didn't use them, though they looked liked they would fit. I just cut my ebrake cable from my ST to match the length that was on the 5th gen. Works like a charm.

yes, the 5th gen e-brake cables worked, as did Jeremys brake lines. wink.gif

to fit the cables though, the exhaust has to be removed.

if you didn't do rotor and pad swaps like me, all you have to do is unbolt one housing and bolt in the other. I don't do brake work, so I had them installed locally.

thw swap took me like 5 hours. It was the first major project I had to deal with on my car so I took my time. If you know what you are doing, then it shouldn't take too long at all. I could prolly do it in like 2 hours now. I also had a caliper freeze, didn't have right brake lines so that delayed me even further. But it really isn't that hard at all. Just time consuming

how did you guys go about on tuning these breaks.

isn;t it dangerious to have more stoping power on the rear then the front?

The disks are similar size, but the system proportions more pressure to the fronts. It's no problem.

There isn't much "tuning" needed. The rear discs should stop as normally as did the rear drums. The proportioning valves seems to be the same between the ST drums and GT discs. The differences in pressure may be related to the brake lines, which the ST drums use small metal lines and the GT calipers use typical rubber lines. Also, the rear never brakes more than the front in normal situations.
