The stock tweeter location In the "premium" sound system is at the Tr-angle shapped pecie that covers the mirrors screws. I am Fiberglassing them in there, like so and I think i should get good SQ, but if your looking for SQ play with placement.

put them in the A Pillar... that will produce good imaging. you want your music to face you...... this is where ill be putting a pair, and in the doors and in kickpods.

hmm i thought you meant speakers and a tweeter, didnt know you meant component set...... anyway. if your doors have a tweeter hole, then put them in there. or put them in kick pods....
Edit: as i said use your stock locations, its easier, but in my case i dont have any tweeter locations, so when it comes time to put in some component sets im goin to use the original 6 1/2" hole and drill a hole for the tweeter, and im also going to have another set in the kickpods, which the kickpod will house the tweeters aswell but i do plan on putting some additional tweeters in the A Pillar. and some midbass drivers in the doors also and in the rear. anyway im doin somethin like that, i cannot decide. The stock tweeters, if you have them, are in the triangle panel right inside your side view mirrors.

before installing the tweeters..... hook them up and have someone hold them in them places, and see which you like best..your car didnt come with tweeters i guess. because they would be there already, all's you do is drill the hole for the mount to fit and put the tweeter in, but do what i said first, so you can see which you like best.

Did you hook your tweeters up to an AMP or the deck? Just curious.

I would recommend either installing in the A pillar (or sail panel) as I did in my first celica (next to to the mirror if you still dont know what the A pillar is):
Or mount them as close to the woofer or directly on top of the woofer grille...this will also preserve the correct imaging and will still have separates for awesome sound. And as always...Please amplify your components. It just doesnt sound right without it. This post has been edited by 1900WattCelica: Jan 3, 2005 - 9:33 AM |

powering your components with your HU? hmm that isnt smart.. when you buy components you always run them with an amp, they will not sound as good as they can otherwise..... for those who run components off their HU, you are missing alot... buy a 4 channel amp to run your components, i recommend the JBL 80.4 over at Sound Domain.

i recieved my splits today, but am a little confused as to how i install my tweeters.
i know the tweeter goes in ither one of the cups,, does it have to? and how do i mount these in the car? do they sit flush with the surface, or stick out? This post has been edited by ShadowFX: Jan 4, 2005 - 2:51 AM |

you cut out a hole that will make the cup fit nice and snug in it... or i guess you can glue it somewhere? lol..... but normally you cut out a hole..

there should be a place for a single screw in the back of the tweeter right in the middle. if you had stock tweeters all you do is take out the bracket that holds the tweeter in, unscrew it out, screw the new one in. otherwise, i guess you could just glue it into a hole somewhere...

normally there is a place to screw it in at, but i didnt see any place on the cups to do that or anything.....maybe its just my monitor....anyway if there is, then that is your way to go....if you want the flush look then yeah cut it, and take some silicone and seal it up.

yeah there are screws, but if i use the flush mounting cup and screw it, it will make the tweeter too big for the triangle pice, so im just using the top mount cup, and then cut it into the triangle pice and glue it in.
