I did a search and all of the info that I found was either irrelevant or the pics I needed were out-dated or broken links.

I want to install new speakers in the rear. I am looking into either the 6.5 3-way speakers or 6x9's in the rear dash from Rockford Fosgate. I am doing a complete Rockford Fosgate system with Pioneer deck and so far have the Deck and am getting the sub installed a week from tomorrow. If I buy the 6.5" 3-way speakers will they install easily into the stock mounting place in the panels in the rear or will I have to fab up a bracket for them? And for those like batman with 6"x9" speakers in the rear dash could I see some pics and get some instructions from you as well? Thanks a ton guys.

The only problem I have with my Alpine 6.5 three ways (in the back of the coupe) is that they kinda push the speaker grate out of a little bit. You think that would effect sound; but the tweeter dome still vibrates on the inside just fine. I don't get it..

But that was the only problem I had; for 6x9s I'm sure more work is needed

Also, the location of the speakers and how they're mounted changes from coupe -> hatcback; Batman has a hatchback and I don't even think his 6x9s are mounted in the stock location.

So those alpines just screwed into the same place the stock speakers went into or did you have to do some work to get them sit right?

I had to put a fender washer on one of the screws because the screw hole wasn't lining up with the speaker- and as such not holding it in very well, causing rattling. The fender washer worked well

I have the GT4 rear strut bar so I had to put the speakers in at an angle. The pics will explain it.

the sound quality is GREAT. I researched whick 6x9s would give the best bass and I got a pair of Alpines. I wired them directly from the rear 6.5 wires ( my rear 6.5s are not used )

to install I used a dremel. Any questions ?

if you want to use the stock speaker locations and still use 3 ways then look into Infinity's shallow mounts... i think you would love them, or some other shallow mount speakers... i personally am not a fan of 6x9"s or oval shaped speakers because of pressure points, i prefer 6 1/2"s they have better bass response and are cheaper in alot of cases but thats up to you. go to www.thezeb.com and get their CDT speakers, i think you would LOVE them. great speakers for the price and they are unbelievable. they also have other great deals.

Thanks for all of the input guys. And Thanks a TON for the pics there Batman, I do have questions though.

Do you think it's the same kind of thing for a coupe? I know I can dremel the stuff out but I'm afraid of the stuff underneath there. Do you think there would be any kind of issues I could run into? I haven't looked under neath the backing thing there so I'm not sure.

If its not too hard I will go with the 300 w 3 way 6x9's in the back, my friend has them and I know they sound awesome along with hanving a ton of bass.

I looked under there and it looks like there is enough room for it but I would have to cut through metal to get it to fit right. Plus I MAY have to angle the 6x9's toward the front. I don't know if I can get the fitment right for it I will do it but if I can't I will just go with the 6.5"'s.

Is there anybody out there who has done 6x9's in the back of a coupe?
