Hello,
Today I took apart part of my dash and I've been working on my keyless entry wiring so that I can have illuminated entry. I found out from http://www.the12volt.com that the door trigger wire is a red and white wire in the driver's side kick panel and that it's negative. Here's a pic to illustrate what I'm about to say: ![]() The green arrow points to the only red and white arrow that I found in the kick panel, but when I took out the connector that connects the wire to another wire(The connector is circled), it doesn't affect anything. The door open sensor appears to act normally, whether the connector is in or out. If anyone has installed an alarm or keyless entry on their Celica, can you tell me which wire I need to tap into to get my illuminated entry to work? Thanks! -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

have you checked your dome light to make sure it is set on "door"?

Neverstop's right, the auto illumination for keyless entry will not work unless you leave the roof switch permanently to door mode.Assuming the door
illumination and the dome light are negatively triggered by the door sensor without the wiring info available, you will have to get access to the drivers side door open sensor. This will mean removing panels.Find out which end of the sensor is permanently grounded using a multimeter( test with door sensor pushed in) . The other wire to the sensor should be the dome lamps return to ground link (when theDome lamp switch is in the door position that is). This is the wire that your alarm /keyless entry should have its illuminator( negative trigger output) connected to, hope this helps, Jon |

Thanks for the replies guys! I did check that the dome lamp was set to door, so that's not the problem.
Wouldn't I not want to tap into the wire that comes directly from the sensor, because that wire not only turns on illuminated entry, but it's also the wire that enables your headlights to turn off and turns on the door open light in your guage cluster? Or would this not really matter. I could picture it working if you tapped directly into that wire, but I don't want to mess up anything else. Also, does anyone know the color of this wire? I hate taking off my interior rear side panels, because they take me forever to get back on. Thanks! -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

You have to remember when the door is closed the door
sensor switch will be o/c (contacts apart), thats why your dome light and door open guage lights switch off.If you connect your trigger line from your keyless entry to this line in the sill I think your effectively connecting it to a broken circuit because remember the door switch sensor contacts are apart. By connecting at a point at the front end of the sensor switch your interior lights can still be activated even when the doors are closed.Remember when you get into your car and close the doors your interior lights cut off. With keyless entry by tapping at the front end of the sensor this effect is bypassed, thats why keyless entry and alarm systems are able to keep the interior light on for a preset amount of time after the doors are closed, I haven't a wiring diagram so if anyone can help you out go for it, but if it was me I know at some point the central door column panel would have to come off.Good luck either way, ..Jon ![]() |

I took out the sensor and checked the voltage on it with the sensor on and off, and then found out that the red and white wire in the kick panel is actually the one that I'll need to use, so I'll just tap into that. Now I've got another problem though.
Do you know where the wire for the parking lights is? I need to tap into this wire for my light flash. I read that it's a green wire near the fuse panel or the steering column, but I can't find one anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ![]() -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I'm looking at a schematic for the lights, and your spot on the 12v feed from
the lamp switch on the indicator stick is fed to the 15amp tail light fuse in the fuse box near the steering column. There should be a green wire feeding from this fuse or the connector into the underside of the sill/ scuff plate. All the parking lights are wired in parallel so tapping onto any part of the wire should work, Jon |

Thanks for the reply. I simply tapped into the fuse and now it works fine. Thanks again for all of your help!
