I put 10" subs in to the side pannel with a fiber glass box.

There is enought of air space and the box is sealed.

However the subs dont sound so good. Basically the sub, not the box, rattels a lot. It sounds as if a peice of paper is moving around. When i put my hand on the face of the sub it muffles it and as of now i have poly fill like stuff making it so the sub wont rattle.

I dont think the subs are being over or under powered. they are two 125 rms and 250 peak running on a 350 rms 700w peak amp set up parrell. (neg(sub) to neg(sub) to neg(amp) and pos to pos to pos)

i figured that inorder to get how much power the amp needs to be i should be adding the the two subs thus 125+125=250 which is close to the 300 rms of the amp.

Or is it that because the subs are set up in parallel that the amp should only put out around 125 rms (matching the power handlage of only one sub?)

Is the problem that im running to much power to the sub?

or is it something else. perhaps i need more layers of fiber glass?

MUCH MUCH thanks in advanced

it could be to thin fiber glass and its flexing or u have air holes in it, I would sya pull it out and cheak.. but u kinda already screwed that up, but my guess is air is leaking. also it would be a ripped voil-coil. I would have to hear it to tell, but pull it out and look at the coils.. also push it lightly back and forth to see if its suctioned tight and not leakign air.

well from what you said it sounds like the VC is f$cked.. id have to hear it to tell you... if the sub was wired wrong it wouldnt work.. if the subs are 125rms subs and you are sending them 150rms you should be fine... check your gains.... another thing is air leaking... as Dig said, push on the woofer(not too hard) and if it takes a couple seconds for it to come back up then it is sealed... if it comes right back up then it isnt sealed... try putting another woofer in there..... update us and let us know what you have come up with.....this is another reason why i dont use fiberglass.

What would it look like if the coil riped. I looked and nothing looks riped.

Also when i have the sub out of the encloser it doesnt sound bad just like a sub out of an incloser would sound like.

also im sending 300rms to two 125rms subs (the subs are wired in parallel and not in series (you guys do know what im talking abou right?))

A do u have a norm wooden made box. if so bolt up in there and listen, I would say sence nothing looks riped and as u say it sounds out side of the box, you have air leakign from ur home-built box.

The coil is the copper looking stuff under the face of the sub its on top of the magnet basically. If you make the sub flex you can see if there is a tear there or not.

will try that as well as purtting it in another box and seeing how it sounds.

will update as putting in springs and other things currently have priority.

hmm, if your sure there is no leak then its the sub, has to be something, or the amp is not putting out much.

Its not exactly easy to screw up a sub install in the wiring department. If you can read + and - symbols you should be okay.

yeah i know i got all the wiring down hoever my subs have an rms of 125 each and my amp puts out 300 rms. I have the subs hooked up on parallel meaning that all the negs are hooked up adn all the pos are hooked up together. (in stead of being in seres neg to pos)

i figured that i need to combine the rms of the subs to get what rms of the amp i should have. Thus 2x125=250 which is close to 300. However i could be rong and perhaps i shouldhave only had an amp that put out around 125 rms, that of one sub.

leaks in the box wouldnt cause what he is describing. To me it sounds like your voicecoil is blown, or if you have 2 subs 1 is wired 180 out. You could try to reverse the wires on 1 of the subs.
