so with the hks agze pistons, my compression will be around the 8.5:1 that i want, correct?? i read somewhere that when u put it in the 7a it raises it to 11 cuz the block is smaller?

i was just about to get to that
4AGZE pistons raise a 7afe/7afte/7agte/7agze compression by a good amount the specific amount is UNKNOWN but you are right doggy and edo have estimated 11.5ish i think not exactly sure of the exact number but its 11 sumthing on Edo's modified 7afe now personally forkee i wouldn't go with the 4agze pistons that devil is going to sell you(nothing against you devil) since you will have an unknown CR which isn't good on a f/i motor especially the 7 since its picky i'd go to arias and get a set of pistons made for you personally maybe run a GB for us thats my opinion and the best way to go about it.......saftly just get some rings for now and vavle seals then when you have the right pistons but them in oh and the 4agze pistons are different in 1 aspect that i don't think was told to you the wrist pins are different one motor has "floating" wrist pins and the other has "locking: wrist pins i do believe that is the proper term so that has to be modified just don't know how hard it is |

Well, suggesting NOT to go with gze pistons was stupid.....
Cuz you dont know the issues and etc. GZE pistons and 7A will give you 10.8:1 CR. Edo, who used ARIAS 8.5:1 CR pistons in his reworked engine got 11.02:1 CR, cuz of the bigger bore (82mm). And forkee is going with the stock bore. So he will get the 10.8:1 In this case, you have to raise your head. 1.6mm will give you about 9.5:1 basicly back to stock. if you gonna use 2mm one, you will get 9:1 (9.1 to be exact ) Metal head gasket for paradise raising will cost you about 125$ shipped in 2mm. But still you can find HKS head gasked for the same price or maybe lower, depends on the heigh you are looking. Only thing, that Rods needs to be reworked that the wrist pin floated fully, and this will give you the second chance if the wrist pin is locked in the pistons or the rod, you wount through the rod out of the block, cuz in one of the 2 places wrist pin will be still free. And reworking is not that big, cuz both pins are 20 mm, so only the small very small amount on rod insert need to be machined, swo any good machine shop will do this. I know, i was sceard to do this at first then i started collecting info, but after some time, i know that this will work, and it will give you stronger pistons for really reallly low money, cuz GZE pistons are FORGED. But be sure to get the right bore pistons, 7A bore is 81 mm And if some one wants to recalculate the CR ratios, here are the numbers: Bore 81 mm Stroke 85.5 mm Cumbursion chamber 36 cc 7AFE dished piston 10 cc and if CR is at 10.8 with gze pistons, and they are parcticly flat (about 4 cc) so you can get all the number you need from what i gave ya. I have a link where you can get the HKS head gaskets for $95 + shipping. and I think the company is in Cali so you won't have any trouble there. I am at school right now though... I will try to post it up tonight. The only thing is that ALL HKS gaskets are for 82mm bore. Now, they are fine to use on the 81mm, it will just Marginally drop the compression... basically not even enough to measure though. It will be a boosing machine with all the parts we have mentioned. Shame you can't habve the rods re-worked before the install.

awesome, so "project 4agze pistons" is scheduled for sunday. its going to be a one day project, since i absolutely have no other time to do it. so bryan, u still feel up to it? we are getting a 2mm head gasket right? and do u know how to rework the rod deal with the pins? hopefully the headgasket we get will be the right one. thats pretty much my only concern right now (well besides the rods). i wont be pushing past 9 psi, so everything should be kosher, right guys??
keep feeding me input, everyone p.s.- this will make a great addition to the search function for anyone looking this up in the future, since i couldn't really find anything prior. |

ok well if we cant get the proper 2mm head gasket to lower the cr for the 4agze pistons, id rather just replace the stock piston rings for now. that way its not such a huge hassle.
