My celica is burning a little oil and it only does it when I first start my car off (a little poof) and when I down shift or when I shift at High RPMs. I've been driving my car like an old lady latly to prevent it from getting worse so I need to know. Did I crack one of my piston rings? if so how can I get it checked and how much money would it cost?

Thanks,
-Brandon

Its not a cracked ring it is most likely valve stem seals. They are notorious for going on 5SFE's. As far as a shop it might be pricy. I'd just make sure its filled with oil and keep driving it till it blows up(which shouldnt be soon).

I dont think it would be cracked. Norm when the are cracked u loose the piston. My guess is there just warn. I have the same problem, i burn small amounts of oil over time. Try getting rislone, its a thickner agent, that should help.

Just test your compression if you're afraid for your piston rings.
