When i first asked about that chip/resitor thingy that goes on to the air temp sensor, which makes the engine read that its getting colder air and thus dump more fuel in to the chambers, i was told that it was unsafe.

However it has recently been brought to my attention that if the the sensor chip thingy tricks the engine into thinking its getting colder air then what would be the problem if i use it while running a CAI system?

I ask this question because my temp sensor off the airbox is currently just sitting in my engine bay and reading probably hotter temps then what it read even with the stock airbox.

So should i just relocate the sensor to a colder place or use the chip/resistor thingy? I also couldnt find it on ebay is there a how to?

I've been playing with the temp. sensor. Just to see what the results would be.
Only difference is when you pull away it will be a fraction more powerfull.
I didn't try it in combination with cai but I think it's just another way to empty your fueltank faster. As said before; If you think it will be faster... it is.

i was told more then emptying ur tank faster it was bad for ur engine to dump more fuel. but someone else told me its better to run a rich mixture.

I have a CAI on my GT you do burn more gas but it hasn't hurt my car any. I dont see why you couldn't put the chip in. I have went from using regular to putting Plus in my car though it runs fine, plus it sounds mean as hell w/ the intake.

chip = retarded if you just dump more fuel in it doesn't add power

you have to understand power is best made with a AIR:FUEL
balance you need the best amount for the temperature and such variables just dumping in more gas is stupid waste of your money

NOW a CAI will not empty your tank faster that is a bad statement
the purpose of a CAI is to bring in cold air(dur) this is a more dense and oxygen rich air then hot air. when the cold air enters the chamber it has more molecules allowing more of the injected fuel to burn more completely and more EFFECIENTLY the goal is to get 100% fuel burn which most likely will never achieve..a CAI INCREASES your gas milage because you engine runs better...otherwise why would people do it?? and the temp sensor be a smart idiot and put it back in the box or you need to put it in your intake tubing

what is it with people.. thinking if you add something to your car it will make it faster. No matter what it is? What is the point of the air temperature sensor? Why even have it, if it is as easy to get rid of with a simple resistor, whey didnt the car manufacture save some money and get ride of it completely. The only reason you would want to run rich is when your car is running boost. There is no good reason to run richer then you have to, runing rich will mess up your cat. converter.

Those chips do nothing but waste gas, and possibly damage your engine by making it run too rich. There needs to be a ratio of fuel and air, or you will just have a rimiting reactant in the combustion. Stay away from those.

Cool thanks guys. I Dont want to drill a hole in to the pipe just for the temp sensor which in the end might ad some turbulance in side of the tube and since i dont have the box i cant put it there.

I think ill just relocate it to a cooler place some where were the air is being sucked into. Or i might just leave it where it is.

My question wasnt about CAI wasting gas its was simply about the resister and its partnering up with a CAI system.

I understand what it does and why its bad. I asked simply because i was told that when using CAI its not a bad thing to have that resister on.

last i heard differnet types of gas doesnt make your intake sound any different....

no don't put any random resistor on your intake
and be smart not retarded drill a hole put a grommet in there and have your intake sensor IN YOUR INTAKE thats why its there don't BE STUPID
and the amount of "trubulance" that it will make YOU WON"T NOTICE

the turbulance i was talking about was from putting the senor in the pipe. Like you said i doubted that the amount of turbulance will be a big factor so perhaps when i get time ill just put the sensor in the pipe. Maybe ill take a look at AEM/injen and c how they do it?
