Depends on the shop's rate. Typically, it should be much less than 1000.00. Our shop usually charges around 300-400 for labor on basic engine replacements. Tune up parts, gaskets, belts and such are extra...

Thats kinda expensive. A few shops around me I know the ownners of charge $70-$80 an hour.

Also I would say if its just a replacement, try your self, just get a lift and some nice tools an a friend to help.

If you have the engine you could probably do it for close to nothing. Another member in MA did this a few months ago. I know, I helped him biggrin.gif Presure2 (Manny) is his name. If you are serious about doing this and you have a newer engine, he would probably help you do it. PM him presure2's profile He would at least let you know everything you would possibly need to gett he job done right.

ELP charges like $55 an hour for mechanical, although this may only be fore certain mechanical things.

My local tuner shop charges like $75, but usually hook me up cause im a repeat customer.
