So I decided to turbo my car. But my engine has close to 160k miles on it.... so I'm guessing I'll need a rebuild. Would that be a correct guess? What is the average cost of an engine rebuild?

an engine rebuild would be from 800 to 1.5k depeneding on parts and where u have it done...if u it ur self a rebuilt kit is anywhere from 300 to 500 bucks.... and yea its a good idea... when adding boost to an N/A engine a rebuild is never a bad idea on an engine with over 100k miles on it .

I agree with Nat. It doesn't make much sense to re-build back to new"ish" condition only to boost it... unless of course you're gonna be rebuilding it specifically for boost...

what i would do is get one with fewer miles and build that one up a bit. im sure u can find one with about half the miles u have now and build that up!

- point for me for posting useful info *kinda* in the Engine section of 6gc-
