I found this on his 'blog' or w.e.
" I was on post this morning with Ben and basically we were talking about why the **** are we here, besides you know, having fun and being bored all the time and people trying to kill us. All this was while aiming weapons at traffic (its neccesary when you have a scoped rifle, and you need to use the scope, dont judge me!). I realized, we're in Iraq because it doesnt matter about freeing Iraqis. They will piss away their freedoms and become corrupt but subtle about it. Its their culture. But at least all these foreign fighters and extremists now have a battlefield. A place to stick it to us Americans. And thats fine with me. I'd rather fight them here than have my family killed in a bombing or snipers gun down an innocent in the street. So basically, we're here to be like... ****ing bring it. Its better here then home, you know? Pick your battles. Chad " I think there is some serious truth in his words. -------------------- AIM : FAQdaWorld

Sorry bro, RIP Chad. A lot of soldiers are getting fked over sadly, my friends g/f's brother barely made it out alive; he got hit by shrapnel in the arm & leg & was also shot through the chest & both occasions after recuperating they sent him back in, good job bush supporters.

Not a matter of who's better or not, the problem is just bush. Afghanistan, iraq, & now iran;why dont we go for china & north korea while were at it.
edit: forgot saudi arabia, we should get them too, right bush?! So many unnecessary deaths. This post has been edited by Ale_lock: Feb 4, 2005 - 2:27 PM |

ya, its sad when we have americans dying over there, but your friend makes a good point. Would you rather have americans dying here or someplace else? Also It was your friends choice, he volunteered, and he knew what volunteering entailed, and for some reason or another even though he hated being there he mustive felt being there was the right thing to do.
I was born abroad, so my view might be skewed, but I can relate more with South Koreans, and Eastern Europeans, I know what fear, oppression and lack of freedom can feel like. I was very happy when Afghan had free elections, and even more overjoyed when Iraq had them. |

I'm really sorry to hear that. I wish his family well and I'm sure he was a great person. It takes a lot of courage to become a solider and have to go there...

Something that is cool tho, the boys coming back are getting crazy resepect. My marine buddy Paul walks around campus w/ me if he's wearing his marine shirt, we'll get free food at restaraunts and random thank yous and hand shakes. And he deserves every bit of it.
