Well my 7afe boggs down and acts like it wants to die when I step on the gas in any gear. It idles smoothly sometimes but it goes up and down at idle. I thought maybe I lost compression but its not smoking at all. I think it is more fuel related. First thing I plan on doing is changing the fuel filter, the plugs were clean 5k miles ago how do I check my spark plug wires.

go get a leak down test or compression check if those are ok then do a tune up fuel filter cap/rotor/wires and plugs

sounds like a plug/wire/cap/rotor prob. Pull the plags and check them (gap and dirty) Either replace the wires or check to see if there are any spots on them if they have been too close to something hot and possible melted a bit.

And of course make sure all wires are plugged in securely.

Well I fixed it today, it was the fuel filter. When I took it off and dumped the gas out that was going to the engine it was so dirty it looked like premix for a weed eater or something. It was rusty brown color. Car runs great now.
