Hi folks,

I'm thing for a long time now for a new car.
Actually, it;s not my plan to buy it directly but over a 0,5 / 1 year.

What's the deal, at the moment i got a ST celica from 1994.
The car is in perfect condition and i'm very pleased with it.
But i want something faster. at least a 2.0 or a gt4.

I really really like the gt4, not only for the speed but as well for the bumper and hood.
The purchase price of a (1994/95) gt4 is not the point, but the insurance and roadtax are extreme for this car.

So my plan is to buy a young (97/98/99) 2.0 and put a turbo on it, everything calculated together it will cost the same as buying a gt4.
in this way i prevent the high costs of the insurance and roadtax and i have got a much younger car.

But is it reliable to do?
i want to use the car as long as possible. so is it better to go for a older gt4 or take the 2.0 and place a turbo on it?

I know that the gt4 is 4wd and got better brakes, but the service costs are high as well.

It is a never a better action when you turbocharge a NA engine. However, it can be made to be reliable... However, since other Celica models are FWD, I would consider that as well.. Will you be able to handle the FWD, with all that power?

just keep your ST and swap in a 3sgte into it, like most of us americans who cant buy a real gt4 have done. my car started out an a 5sfe powered gt and now its got the same motor as a gt4 in it.

What you can do is this: There are two junyards in holland selling only jap parts.

www.deijne.nl
www.japoto.nl

Call them and ask what a front clip would cost you.

Think about would u rather have ff or f/awd. I personnally would go with the awd, I have never liked front wheel drive cars. but the engine swap will work perfect as well
