cf hatch?

you need to get one custom made, but that glass back there is heavy

the stock hood is heavy. a cf hood would weigh like less than 15lbs, stocker is maybe 40lbs

yea, it's not much of a difference. I would agree its probably a 25lb diference. You could always tell the your girlfriend to go on a diet for another few pounds, lol.

Or take out your back seats, and ditch the girlfriend. I hate it when I ride with one of my buddies, he wieghs around 320lbs. Everytime he gets in the car I feel a hug difference. He probably hates riding in it too, because I always have to say, "dang, this thing goes so much slower with you in here." Seriously though, it's about a .3 on the quarter, and that's alot.

ok, so ditch the back seats. Drop the girl off at the buss stop. throw away the spare tire. And you could fill the tires with helium.

You know, I think we've had this conversation before.

Back seats don't even add up to the weight of the pass seat. Replace the fronts with sparco CF seats smile.gif

yea the stock (st-204) hood weighs a TON compared to the 205 hood....
just taking a guess, id have to say there'd be at least a 20-25lbs diffrence in the stock hood to a vis CF..and a little less with the hatch..

I agree... our stock hoods are VERY VERY light for a stock hood and in comparison to most other hoods.

hummm intresting.

The reason y i ask this question is because after i a possible header and exhaust system i next wanted to lighten up my car. However i want to keep a completely stock look thus ill be painting the CF.

I thougth id be getting rid of a lot of weight by switching over to a CF oem hood and a hatch, but by the looks of it for the money i spend i might as not do it as i dont run my celi on the track is purely my daily driver.

well the hatch GB is going RIGHT now tongue.gif

it will help shed weight, but you wont get the full effect of weigh-shedding unless you get a lexan glass panel installed

Cept a cf hood isnt offered for our car. Remember, VIS's hood is fiberglass with a cf layover. Is it lighter then stock? Probably, but not like much. Maybe 5 pounds. It's more of a looks thing.

while slow is right, i feel the need to say how fiberglass is a light material

before CF, and still today...many muscle cars go for Fiberglass hoods wink.gif

I don't know about that, my hood seems lighter than a 5lb difference. Also, I painted mine with a little design and even with that it's still subtle on a black car, without looking outrageous non-stock. Something to consider.
