you need 3sgte pistons ,your block has to match up with the 3sgte head if it does your good if not your block has to get matched up.

To everyone reading punch's comment, DO NOT put 3sgte pistons on your 5sfe block! They will not fit. if they did everyong looking for pistons for the 5sfTe would be running 3sgte forged ones. They are just to small.

you are right!!!!
A month? Wishful thinking. It took three months to get all machine work done and have all parts in, engine assembled and car fired up. Both rods will fit, upgraded 5S rods are $$$$, 3S rods are cheaper but you'll still spend a bit to grind down the journals on the crank. CP makes stroker pistons that are the size of 5S pistons but with valve reliefs for the 3S head. Depending on the 5S block you may need to have water channels drilled. Etc etc. A good time to consider upgrading the head. | | | Inbox Well, if you’re using the 5SFE block you need the 5SFE pistons unless you get an overbored set of 3SGTE ones, which would pretty much make them 5SFE pistons. You’ll have to get the crank modified if you use 3SGTE rods as well. That combo should have no problem hitting 300 hp. this is form Jim Snodgrass <snodgrass23@hotmail.com> this is the guy from http://www.jimsnodgrass.com/enginebuildup.htm This post has been edited by Punch: Mar 17, 2005 - 10:30 PM |

I have an idea! you can JB weld 2 more cylinders onto the 5S block, then you can do a BEAMS head and a 2ZZ celica head so you can have both VVTi and LIFT... and then you can just direct swap in everything 2JZ to the block then you can make instant 1000hp!!! That's how silly you're beginning to sound punch... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

the pistons from the 2JZ are the same size as the 5s piston & thats a fact... the 2jz rods have the same journal size as 5s rods; I will test the the stroke lenth today & get back to you...
I will take pics of every thing for you Kwanza26 to show you. |

Do you *need* me to post specs? 2JZ bore diameter is 86.1mm and the pin diameter is 21mm. 5SFE bore is 87mm and pin diameter is 22mm. That alone should show how things won't fit. This is assuming the pistons are the same height, the rod spacing is the same, amougst other measurements. Even if you get overbored pistons, the wrists won't match. Let's say you'll then bore out pin slots... and then you get unknown compression levels... well, by that time, you'll put out enough money to just get some overbored 3SGTE pistons, which are basic drop-ins because they share same pin diameters and overall piston design. Even better... you can also get custom pistons... As for the rods, 2JZ has 52mm rod journals like the 5SFE... but... the rod lengths are very different, the 2JZ rods being 142mm long while the 5SFE are 138mm... Need I say more? -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
