creek sound when i hit a bump, time for new shocks? Options

i gave my vin to toyota and the verified that i do have the sports suspention

so, do i really have to go out and find a pair of new or used struts, or would a good shop be able to cut my existing ones and make this work?
i asked tirerack about this before placing my order, and the sales guy said that it was totally normal to have to cut the shock when doing inserts.... so im getting mixed opinions on this.

i ended up going with kyb after all because of the extra cost and the fact that i would want koni all around, not just the front. 

i got to say that Tirerack is an amazing place to order from. i placed my order around 3pm and got the shocks within 24hrs at my door, regular ground shipping!

the sports suspension can not be cut, they are welded in. the 2 fronts must be replaced. call a local toyota junkyard and look for ST model struts. i thought koni's for the front were just inserts, therefore you gotta get new fronts anyways.

update.... lewfx is right, my stock struts could not be used with inserts. i ended up buying 2 new monroe struts for the front and the creaking seems to have gone away.

how do you like the monroes? i tried them too but i took them back and bought 2 used ones for 100, put my bilstein inserts in...big difference between monroe and bilstein.

they are ok for now and solved my problem. not great, but better then the blown stocks that are on there now.

if these go out again, im considering a full tein damper setup that gives u adjustable shocks and coilovers.
