Well being that my car is about 11yrs old now and has 165k miles its got some wear and tear... My hatch has rattled and made noises since i bought the car and it has driven me crazy!! Now almost a year later i finally fixed it!
There are 4 bump stop hatch mounts. 2 black plastic block mounts located on the hatch itself and 2 rubber mounts that they press against on the body of the car. Well what i did was take the two plastic ones off the hatch and used a washer as a spacer behind the mounts and put them back on...WAA LAA! Perfectly tight rattle free hatch. -------------------- |

I tried doin that because i narrowed the rattle to the stops. Mine dont come off...I accidentaly ripped one off.
Did you use WD40 or something? |

Both body and hatch stops come off. The plastic ones are on the hatch and have a 12mm bolt through them. The rubber ones are on the body and have two phillips screws through those (they are really hard to unscrew though).
Just remove the plastic hatch ones with a 12mm and put the washer behind them. -------------------- |

nice, im definitely going to do that. another way i lessoned the noise was to actually replace my sway bar links in the rear. believe it or not but it effected the hatch noise.
