We're going through with the swap, And we need some help Options

Chrobis has changed his mind again (I know, I know) and wants to do the swap; you can ask him his own reasons. But anyway, here's the dealio. Its a call for help. Neither Chrobis nor I are technically inclined enough to perform this swap (Chrobis can probably wade his way through it, I couldn't do jack sh!t)

So, we're looking for someone in the socal area who wants to do the swap for us/slightly with us. We're both on a tight budget, and I'm paying for all the parts needed. Currently, here's what has to happen:

1) Removal of 5sfe engine from my car, including EGR, ECU, all the wiring
2) Removal of automatic transmission from my car.
3) Removal of the entire exhaust from my car.

5) Distributer problem checked out before removal of 3sgte from Chrobis' car
4) Removal of Chrobis' 3sgte from his car, including the ECU, all the wiring
5) Removal of the transmission
6) Removal of the entire exhaust

7) 5sfe into Chrobis' car
8) New transmission, clutch, into Chrobis' car.
9) My old exhaust onto Chrobis' car

10) 3sgte needs to have AFM replaced
11) Distributer problem fixed
12) 3sgte into my car
13) Manual transmission into my car
14) Chrobis' exhaust onto my car.

yeesh, a 14 step list.

Also, we'd need two engine hoists and a place to do this (or maybe just one hoist?)

He wants to get this done and over with ASAP, and the earliest I can really be without my car for an extended period is the 19th. Is anyone willing to help? Does anyone have the garage space we need? or two engine hangers? What are your thoughts on this? How long do you think it will take?

edit: i plan on doing my 5 speed swap, but it might not take place till winter 2005-2006 so i can source the best parts possible at the best prices. im in no real rush, ill finish exterior and suspension this summer though.

Alternatively, Chrobis could drive the car down here ASAP, and someone can track down the sputter problem and then pull the engine, transmission and exhaust by the 19th. Then I'll come in, we'll slip the 5sfe into Chrobis car, and he can be on his way before the 3sgte is in my car. (Since I've been told putting a 5sfe back into his car wouldn't take very long at all)

Your plan seems very ambitious - actually close to unrealistic given the parameters. Nevertheless, I wish you guys the best of luck.

The timeframe is the real unrealistic thing- the swap shouldn't all that bad. All the wriing is done and being preserved, and with the exception of the new transmission it's a straight swap.

19th, thats the first day of my spring break. so thats perfect for me.

you only need one engine hoist, but get a bunch of wood pallets and blocks to set the engines down on.

swaping in the 5sfe can be done in one day, if need be, but checking things on the 3sgte will slow things down a bit.

i will be able to bring tools and a jack with stands.

as for a hoist, a friend of mine has one, but im not sure if he will let me borrow it for use on a strangers car, lol

i'll be in for the duration i guess, nothing better to do, lol.

Shid, I don't have a garage to do it at, but I can honestly tell you that everything can be done in one weekend. But you need to have the distributor fixed/changed by then. Same with the AFM.

too bad i'm all the way in TN. i did all that w/ my car, and a car in cincy, and it only took me 2 days (that's including the driving), and that was doing most of the work by myself....

i'd love to help...but it's just not in the cards for me to come out there. .
