... see i agree with this post... kinda...
1) hell i know im guilty of throttleing it on the road... hell i had a 3s smile.gif , however the safety of others will always come into effect... if i on the road and i open her up on occasion if i was gonna leave him behind i wouldnt bother... i know what i can do... or if for some reason i didnt feel safe, i have no problem stopping... granted i know that you cant make it completely safe... but there are things you can do to make it safer... for yourself and others.... for example dont let your pride get the best of you, only do it on a place that you know VERY well, if you HAVE to do it then do it at a time that there arent people on the road, and please if you can leave it for the track... im not saying this to support it but as we all know its not gonna stop... there will always be streetracing... so if this is you please take what i have said to heart .... for your life and the ones around you...

I would argue against our insurance rates being so high because of street racers..
Its the damned unattentive people on the road in their big ass 6,000 pound SUV's and trucks. I agree - Racing in the middle of a busy street, weaving in and out of traffic iststupid - and yes ive done it - call me stupid =)
BUT
if you and a buddy want to race - going to find an empty road that you can see for 2 and 1/2 miles with no turn ons or off - whats the harm? Besides the cops of course...
Street racing on a whole is generally UNSAFE - but Given the proper situation - saftey precautions - and knowledge - it can be done very safely and undercontrol..

Who do you think gets most of the wreckless driving tickets? I agree with you, I raced a couple of times and I used percautions, but what you fail to understand is that 88 or so percent of these immature drivers street race and what they fail to acknowledge is that a pregneant women or a child or anybody for that matter could get in the way of there race and get killed. Also they can get killed, Here in toronto an immature guy was speeding down a 40km street and going almost 200 with a civic, he crashed and his girlfriends head was ripped right out of her shoulders, now just imagine bieng the father of that girl, and hearing your daughter was killed due to illegal street racing.

I know its fun to race, and i do it, heck i race cars sometimes that are alot more powerful then mine, biggrin.gif biggrin.gif but there are some punks out there that fail to understand that sometimes it can be dangerous to race, and dont take saftey percautions b4 you do so, and that the majority. This guy is a close friend and he almost got killed, so dont blame me if im bieng a little angry.

Where are you getting your facts from? 88 percent??
I was talking about actual wrecks - not wreckless tickets..
And as i stated in my earlier post i agree with you it can be dangerous - i was pushing that if you do it correctly it minimizes the risks drastically Then again - i live in montana... so its different here - we can find a road where no one is on nor will they be for about an hour - some roads are used that infrequently..
your friend was being a moron. 200mhps is insane speeds and i would not do them even on the streets i described to you - its too fast. road imbalances among other things would make it crazy dangerous.. but going 85 isnt going to kill anyone if your in the right area - and man, dont worry about being mad - **** id be mad as well almost lost your close friend - he killed his girl thats just stupid.
anyhow.. i hope everything with him turns out...

1) Was it with snow? If so hes completely stupid.

2) VR-4 > s4 ...hands down. In the 1/4 mile. In handling. And in modding potential. For some reason DSM's vaccum mods.

He said 200 kmph not mph, I'd like to see a civic that does 200 mph.

In europe people drive on the audobahn at any speed they want. I know I drove on it before, I did 200+ kmph its not a big deal. Cars there the suspension is different than our cars, and can handle those speeds easily.

all u guys are think that people that street race do it by themselves or atleast thats what it sounds liek to me. i go down to the local races on the weekends in seattle and all i know is that no car or person has every been standing in the middle of the road or driving when we race...i dont personally race cuz my car is slow...but i know we always have someone at the end of the track and the start of the track with walkie-talkies, also none of our track are even close to a main road except for every now and then we get semi-trucks coming thur. for the most part everone down there is parked on the other side of side walks and grass hills things like that, we are barley ever parked on the road when racing unless its behind the start. its fun and it helps me meet new people. also the roads we race on ar ehte same every week i can explain each one to u in depth if u asked. everyone knows there are no bumps

the whole thing about going to the track is it cost money 25 bucks a run might not seem alot to u but it is to me, also regulations dont let half the cars in to race, and it dose give the same feeling like street racing does.

Yes ill admit its not the safest thing to do but nether is driving in general, speeding also. You know not everything is safe in this world no matter how hard the soccer moms of the world try its never going to be. i could die walking down the street are u telling me not to. when i ue to go to the club my dad would say "why? all u are doing is asking for trouble, havent u heard of people dying there and this and that happing" yes i have but its fun and its a change from my extremly boring life. from schoo lto work to home is my life once a week i do something different and it keeps me sane.

im proable going ot get bashed for all this but oh well i said my peice

If I had a track near by that cost $25 to run, I'd do it every singal weekend. The problem with street racing is that most of the poeple doing it are retards, and they get hurt doing stupid stuff. I hardly ever race over 80, and never race over 100mph. There's no point, it's a quarter mile. Don't anyone try to tell me that a Celica GT can do better than a 100mph in a quarter. If your going to turn, do in on a track. I never try to autocross on the roads. You always do have to watch the other guy, even when he's yoru friend. I've never had an accident, but I've been racing things (motorcycles, go-carts, fourwheelers, now cars) sence the begining of my life. I'll never slow down till I'm died. And I hope I die in my car, that would be the best place.

LOL, funny you should say that. I use to live out this country road, and I did that apex hitting all the time. I use to see how fast I could go, but I never let me self go out of my lane. And I did this in the big fields were I could see if someone was coming, so I thought it okay. That was some real fun there.

EDIT: I forgot to thank you for the link, Thanks. I'm having trouble getting it to work though, I can get the link, it's just finding the info that hard. I think it's because I'm freaking beat right now. I'm so tired.

Hydroplaning, snow, bumps and turning. All these are possible. More than likely if he was down shifting he was turning. The added resistance from the front wheels + the turning could push the back end to either side. I really wish people would get off this "FWD tail siding" thing. It's very possible in certain conditions.

I live in toronto, wich equals lots of snow. That combined with changing lanes while going 130km/h, =80mi/h can caus lots of accidents.....

guys we are getting off subject here... personally i think that this thread needs to focus on the things you can do to minimize the chance of an accident while racing... as we all know its not gonna stop... so lets focus a thing we call ORM (operational risk management) which is just a looking at what your doing and see what can be done to minimize the risk cause as i stated before we all do something that we shouldnt do on the road... wheather its hitting the apex on the turn, punching it past a slow driver... doing a lil showing off... or just plan out racing...

ill start
1) know the roads you are running on... dont do a mountian ridge run on an unfamilar road...

So now we have a thread on how to street race safely? Yes, let's help get more reckless idiots racing on the roads. This thread needs a heatley dose of delete.

72mph was the faster I ever went in the quarter. Wonder where I got such an accurate numbeR? Oh yes, I go to the track like a smart person. Ok. just checkin
