ever since my swap, my car has slightly pulled to the right. it only happens when i give the car gas. other then that it drives perfectly straight. i took the car to a few shops and none of them can tell me what is causing the problem. had the alignment done and eveyrthing......one guy mentioned that bad motor mounts can sometimes cause the car to pull to one side. so im trying to figure out if the way i have my mount setup has anything to do with my problem.
the 3sgte has a bracket on the passengers side of the motor with 2 or 3 holes in it, and then the motor mount connects to that when you put your motor in.... when you guys did your swap, did you swap over to the 5sfe bracket, or keep the 3sgte one? i kept my 3sgte one. it seem to work, but you can only use 2 bolts to connect the mount to the bracket because the 5sfe motor mount dosnt line up 100%. what did eveyone (5sfe-3sgte) else do with that mount? oh and no, its not TQ steer. this happens when i baby the car and just give it a little bit of gas. i mostly notice it on the highway. mac.... i know what you are saying, but its not TQ steer.... this happens when i give the car very little gas and drive it in what i call "5sfe mode". shifting at 3 grand and trying to drive slow.
i think it has something do to with that mount or maby my control arms or maby my tires? This post has been edited by lagos: Mar 2, 2005 - 12:44 AM -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

my roommate took my car out yesterday and said almost the same thing lagos- I've noticed it for a while but assumed alignment. He said it didn't feel like alignment however..

If that were the case, he wouldnt be pulled to the right. And also, both wheels are powered, its not like you have a 2x1. -------------------- |

if you guys can, test this out for me. take your car out on a flat road, while cruising at a constant speed, let go of the wheel, then give the car some gas and see if it pulls to the right or not.
if it does or dosnt, tell me how that motor mount looks in your car. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

I will try on the way to work today. I am working at home this morning (well, not right now...smiles) so I will post up this afternoon. BTW, I haven't got to the pics yet but I assume I will be able to see the mounts from the top, right?

Could you made have a broken mount? With the added power of the 3S, you should be able to break that thing pretty easy. That being the hydrolic mount, I think it would just look at it to tell if it's broke. Try popping the hood, with the car on, and then reving the engine to see how much it moves. If your brave enough, have a buddy take off in your car wile your looking at the engine. Or have your friend look at it wile you take off. You don't have to rev and dump the clutch of anything, just move the car. You should be able to see were there is significant movement like this to check for broken mount. Or at least be able to pinepoint what area you should be consintrating on.

Well, I used the bracket from a 5sfe, not the one from the 3SGTE.

hmm... this might be the problem then. i think ill have to swap over to the 5sfe bracket and see if that helps. if not, then its the control arms or somthing else.
from those pics, i can tell that jason used the 5sfe bracket for your motor. when i did my swap, i rembember me and my friend trying to figure out what bracket to use, and for some reason we decided to just keep the 3sgte one on there. ill post up pics of how mine looks when i get home from work -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
