QUOTE(Chrobis @ Mar 3, 2005 - 12:24 PM) BTW the new MR2's have the best power to weight ratio from all 3 generations. That means the new MR2's powered by the 140hp 1zz-fe are faster then a SW20 with 3s-gte. But alas the SW20 has more tuning options. But what Im getting at is its not slow, itsa sport compact, and a convertible. no they arent... the 3rd gen is a bastard child... a mix between the 1st and 2nd gens that really had trouble finding a home... MK2 owners called it too slow, MK1 owners called it too bulky and dull... -------------------- Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all No but I don't buy it Like anything you do, as anyone you are Cause I'm... Everyone has their opinions on the MR2s... but between the three... I like the 2nd gen the LEAST. Having driven all three, I personally like the 3rd gen a lot... but the 1st is still my favorite.

The Scion tC is actually made to replace the Celica. It is cheaper, has some power (160HP) and they will be releasing a supercharged version of this car. So people bashing the Scion line, but then complaining of Toyota's "jacked up prices" and lack of a turbo/supercharged sport compact car to compete with the rest of the competition...well shut up. The quote of Lexus/Toyota/Scion and who they are marketed towards is completely correct. If you want a Toyota sport compact car brand new, then buy the Scion tC. It's the best you'll get from toyota if that is what you are looking for. I think personally it's a valiant attempt at capturing the younger market that doesn't have the money to buy a WRX type vehicle or something similar of that standard and price. Also some of the younger market that is influenced a lot by their parents and also look for decent gas mileage and a reliable name. People know that Toyota owns Scion and they know that toyotas run well for a long time. If you haven't noticed, the past 7 years Toyota hasn't been concentrated on creating a sports car for enthusiasts because that's really not what they are known for. They are known for creating very efficient and reliable automobiles, but they do realize the need and desire of a small but noticeable percentage of people that want that extra bump in power along with the reliability and efficiency...so hence Scion tC and the soon to be tC supercharged.
Sorry if I dragged on, but this topic has been covered over and over and it gets so old. Not mad that it was brought up again, but more mad that no new opinions have been brought...same opinions over and over. toyota's solution the complaints you guys brought up is the Scion line...don't like it? Tough luck then. Either see the advantages of this new tC or if you don't like it, then go elsehwere. Pretty simple. ha, didnt mean to start a war here, i was only getting at that Toyota, i feel knew that they would stop selling celicas after the 6th gen because of the less features the 7th gen comes with. It is as if they had it planned to stop production of the celica now back when they released the 7th gen
