My plan is to get my A/C working pretty soon, and everything mechanical is on the engine. The compressor/belt is there, the condenser, the lines, etc. are all there.

Now I know that I'm going to need a refrigerant recharge once I hook up the lines and get it wired and such.

Do do-it-yourself products like these work? I'd prefer not to take my car anywhere if I don't have to, as I don't trust anyone to work on my car besides me.

And then here's my second question. Wiring will probably be a pain, but I've heard that there is only really one wire that switches the A/C on and off, and the rest of the wiring is for the idle-up and such, to increase the engine idle when the A/C is on. Do I really need this idle-up wiring setup? My idle is perfect right now, and I don't imagine that the A/C on at idle would cause the car to bog down to the point where it'll die or anything.

my ac still dosnt work after my swap too. im planning to look into this soon and fix the ac wiring. its only 4 wires, so it sould be an easy fix.

i dont know if the diy recharge kits work for us or not. i would thinking that your have to bleed the system somhow, to get rid of the air thats stuck in the lines.

I can't help you on the wiring (mine and other swapper's work so its doable) but recharging is easy stuff for a qualified shop. It would be hard for them to screw it up and you should be able to get it done fairly inexpensively.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

i believe. the only way to recharge a cars ac with those kits.. is when the ac is running low on freon. BUt in your case, your car doesnt have freon at all. You need a pump that will suck all the air out of the freon lines. After that, you need to fill it up with freon. I recomend you bring it to a shop.
