So I was getting off the freeway when I see a G35 marked with SKYLINE written under the Infiniti symbol and off to the right it said 35.0 GT

Ok is it just me or is that really lame? Thats like me slapping GT4 on my car! Anyone seen people marking their G35 SKYLINE??

not really, since the G35 is called the skyline in Japan. Its the exact same car, excpet its called different things. Sort of like calling the IS300 the Altezza. As long as it has the same engine and everything, then i dont see a problem with JDM rebadging.

But then again, saying you have a Soarer when you dont, have a Silvia when you dont, or have a GT4 when you dont, thats wrong because those cars have someting your USDM can does not have.

You're all sorta confused...

Our G35 Sedan and Coupe are referred to as Skylines in Japan. They're V35. In Japan, they have some engines available, like a 2.6 liter 6 cylinder. No turbo engines. No GTR. But thats what Nissan's working on. Supposedly, it will not be called a Skyline GTR anymore, but just a GTR. I think it will not have much resemblance to the G35, except size. The engine will probably be a Twin Turbo VQ, like the engine that the Z is using in JGTC. They might use electric motors to spool up the turbos at low RPMs, and they might slighly downsize the size from 3.5 to 3.2. But as of now, I don't think anyone knows anything definite about the upcoming GTR.

Thats what i found on a nissan forum!

Sounds to me that there is a difference - either way it may be similar but not the same! so ur faking it either way!

Its not faking if thats what it is. That excerpt you took makes it very confusing. The G35 is a Skyline. The GTR is a Skyline in a sense but totally different. Yes the GTR will be dropping the Skyline name, simplly because its totally different. Now the engines in the USDM G35's and 350Zs are VQ engines, the GTRs are RB20DETTs, totally different engine. When ppl think Sklyine, they think GTR34, or R33. When in actuality, the G35 is the original line and has been around for 30yrs.

either way its not called a skyline here so dont put the name on the car - thats my feeling on it! unless u imported a Nissan skyline from Japan. then leave the badge on!

I disagree. Personally I'd like everything to have the same name. I dont like this marketing schemes and what not. If I had a G35 I might throw a nissan and skyline symbols on it, because I see that as a more pure version. Not tainted. Thats just my take on it.

i think some US models are badged like that... i saw some 70 year old guy heading towards the direction of the nissan design plant not too far from my house with a G35 labeled "Infiniti Skyline"... i highly doubt some 70 year old guy with a "luxury car" is going to bother rebadging his infiniti

there is nothing with giving a car back its original name.... I would take the G35 and put skyline on it... no problem with that.. just like i would take an RSX and take the A off and put and H and lable it intergra .... just like i would take a any lexus and take the L off and replace them with T's ... its not like having a civic and putting a GT-R on it..

Now are you talking about the Skyline or the GTR? The GTR concept is hideous.
