Ok so here's my problem: I just upgraded my system (1 10" alpine r in a large sealed enclosure... I'll get pics..) and sometimes my system just stops bumping intermittently.. Amps not runnin hot, voltage is constant, ground and power wires are all properly ran and connected/grounded.. Any ideas? Anyone?

well go over all of your wireing.... check your RCA's, also sometimes the screws to clamp down the speaker wire and ground, bat, and rem. wire can come lose... also check the wiring on the sub...

All wiring is secure (RCA's, Power, Ground, Remote turn on etc etc)...

I'm running a 600 watt rockford amp (Prolly more like 300 watts)

i remember when that happened with my cousins' system (2 10inch Rockfords) it was because his ground wire was loose. not sure what it is in your case and i know you checked your wires, but it's worth another shot.

Im thinking maybe I should upgrade the power and ground wires maybe.. it could just be too much of a restriction for the power needs of the actual subwoofer its self.. I tried adjusting the gains and levels to see if that would stop it but only if the settings were barely pushing the sub at all..

upgrade? why? upgrading wont do much except help current... check your grounds man.. switch power wires, switch remote wires and ground wires.. you might think it is ok but it might now be.. make sure the ground is on BARE METAL.. check ALLLLL connections..

I also had this problem repeatedly until lately. Sometimes the sub would work fine, other times (usually for the first ten minutes of driving) the amp would switch on and off every few seconds, real irritating! I ran the remote and RCA leads down through the centre of the car via the console and uner the carpet, whereas previously it ran side by side with the power cables in the duct under the door sill. Now it works fine and I can only put it down to the power cable inducing a false current in the remote cable, my cd changer also sounds slightly better now too. I'm guessing you too are running all your cables together so I would suggest seperating them out as I did.

If the RCA cables are only going to an amp to power a sub, I guarantee that you won't hear a difference if you seperate the cables, provided that your cables are all intact and in good condition and not shorting out or whatever. The little bit of interference that can be caused by running RCAs side-by-side with power wires is inaudible by the ear on a subwoofer.

Yeah, it's better to run the wires seperately, but it's not going to make a difference if the wires are only going to a sub amp.

I don't think this was a problem with the sound quality, just that the amp is literally not working properly. I agree though that there would be no effect on the RCA's for the sub drivin' amp, the cd changer however now has a lot less background hiss and the sounds slightly sharper at high volume than it did before.
I think we can agree though that running the remote lead away from the power is a good idea.
