i bought these 2 audiobahn 400 watt amps and i am trying to find a good amp well i think i found one but i am not sure how it will work can someone help me the amp information is:well down bottom it says 1x800 watts rms does this mean that the amp only puts out 800 watts. this questions might seem stupid but i am new at the audio thing. and also will my radio and regular speakers run off the amp or will they stay the same like they are. will i need more watt for the speakers and the head unit??sorry i am an idiot about this stuff i never really wanted to mess with to much audio till now. also one more thing will this amp suit what i need??

Well first off. You need to tell us what you are using? (stock head unit? Speakers, subwoofer,.... that sort of thing) Secondly, The rms watts is the important figure when considering amp power. You need to match the Amp's RMS with the subwoofer max handling RMS. --------"and also will my radio and regular speakers run off the amp or will they stay the same like they are" well that depends on how you hook it up. Do you want your amp to handle all the channels( every speaker) , OR do you want your head unit (reciever ) to keep deleivering signal and power to the speakers, and have a different amp for the subwoofer. Simply.. you have not provided enough information for us to solve the problem. And I'll just let the audio pro-s give you more of a thorough solution, after you have answer my questions. |

audiobahn is no where near the best. All the stuff they make is pretty much for looks and low end applications.
If you want the best, then get a 4 channel amp. One channel to drive each polk speaker. Then a sperate amp to drive the additionaly subwoofers. The brand of amp you choose is a matter of preference, I am bias towards pheniox gold products. But before you can start getting into high end audio parts. you need to sound deaden your car to prevent the pannel and platic peices from rattling. |

Id say upgrade your headunit, aiwa is pretty old and not great of a set preout for any sub setup. Id say go with pioneer, kenwood or alpine for good quality but low price. Go look at some bestbuy speacials.
Also audiobhan are not the great. Id suggest going for some alpine subs or rockford, which will keep you at low price and good sound. Also remember to sound match your subs and amp, so get the same brand. |

hahah thanks Hanyo... sorry for last night... but uh. yeah Aiwa is pretty out of date... get a new HU.. look at the others posts about receivers for help on that.. anyway if you like the Audiobahn stuff then that is cool.... find out the subs RMS and then let us know.. you will want to (usually) find an amp that will give each sub their RMS or close to it.... also if you your cd player to power your speakers then that is fine, but if you get an amp for them, they will sound alot better... (if they arent factory, they will probably blow if they are..lol)
keep us updated and we can help you the best we can. -------------------- i want a stereo so loud, it blows womens clothes off.

yes always see how it sounds to you first, that is all that matters... you can power your speakers off your cd player if you wish.. for an amp for your subwoofers.. try to find one around 800rms since they are "400rms subs" and please do not look at the max power look at the RMS as stated or "continous power handling"
please refer to the others Topics below yours for head unit recommendations. you could also read the other topics -------------------- i want a stereo so loud, it blows womens clothes off.

that amp will work fine for your subwoofers, but i dont think you are even too sure what the basic steps in car audio are... go to www.bcae1.com and www.the12volt.com these sites can help you in the basics of car audio.

Dude - stop while you can with the audobahn - i work at best buy.. dealt with car audio and ive had nothing but trouble with them
Keep your subs, since you've already bought them , keep your deck - its probably not too bad - it is not an icon deck and they are not known for their superior sounding head units but it will do JUST fine. no need to spend money unless you have to The amp your looking for, for those quality of subwoofers doesnt need to be a fosgate - though that's what id recommend look into a sony x1000 it does very nice power though its not flashey nor is it top of the line i picked mine up for 200 dollars and it did great for what i wanted - provided powerfull bass. till someone stole it that is but thats a different story. Your subwoofers may tell you that they can handle 800 rms combined but thats bull**** - its very rare to find speakers that acutally output their recommended bass. in fact i bet they probably output 200-300 rms not their stated 400 rms, or if they do 400rms they would blow at that output and anyways it does not neccesarily matter - a friend of mine has 2 15 inch audiobahns with a 4000 watt amp and my ex 1000watt sony amp with no name Qpower subwoofers (rated at 1000 wat max each) 10 inches kicked and sounded MUCH better than his. SO DONT buy that audiobahn amp.. they suck really - Power is a very important part of your soundsystem - it is where people **** up the most - they go for the good speakers but the SYSTEM quality is where its at you cant skimp and expect good results.. if you want any other model info just ask.. sadly i know them.. Oh yea as for powering your 4 speakers off the amp dont do it unless you buy a 4 channell amp. there is no point the 50 watts your getting out of your deck will be more than enough try it and see if you want more if you do post back and ill tell you how to do it. tis not difficult but it could take some time. anyhow if you do have any other questions just give me a holler. nobody65@gmail.com later nobody |

"but thats bull**** - its very rare to find speakers that acutally output their recommended bass. in fact i bet they probably output 200-300 rms" i hope that you are referring to Audiobahn and other cheap crap... because that is completely untrue otherwise... also stay away from Sony... its cheap also.. barely gets the job done... yes you Should stay away from Audiobahn.. their products are basically big paperweights.... for $200 you can pick up a better amp... as i said ... PLEASE REFER TO THE OTHER TOPICS. for help.. the Search option is your friend... also you are better off getting a new cd player.. Aiwa isnt all that great... if you want to keep it then that is fine.. car audio isnt cheap.. think twice buy once... no need to go cheap and the stuff you bought fail within a year or sooner.. save your money.. no need to say "im not rich" or something... you can save your money like i and the rest have... it pays to Pay for good quality products.. also his deck isnt going to put out 50x4 or whatever it claims.. cd players dont put out that much.. they do however put out around 12 - 30rms..... for better clarity and imaging.... this is just your beginning system... systems come and go, but if you do it right the first time and take the time to learn everything, you will be good to go in the future and wont have to worry about getting ripped off... its always funny to walk into a car audio store and hear someone tell me that this ???? 12" sub is the "f#cking best out" and he cant tell me why.. or what the cf of the ported boxes they have.. or if they are tuned... i do everything myself...... anyway..... thats all i have i guess... let us know what you are going to do... any question ask away!!!
