I am new here and this will be my ver first post. I'm very new at this cell phone info and deals. Now what does unlocking do for certain cell phones, let's say Sony S710a from Cingular, if it's unlocked will I be able to use sign up with verizon and use that phone?

no because verizon isn't a gsm provider, you could go ATT aka cingular, cingular, or T-mobile any gsm provider but verizon won't work.

well said Drocay. yea.. that's exactly what unlocking does. cause the S710a has a lock code set on it from cingular so other carrier's sim wouldn't be accepted.. by unlocking it, it'll accept any sim cards even if it's from different carrier and people would be able to bring it to other countries and use their local service sim cards.

Well seeing how im looking anyways do you have any mp3 playing cell phones? mp3 player is almost dead and if I have to get a cell phone Id rather it do double duty. Honestly could give a damn if it has a camera or plays games (psp > cell phone) but looks are always a plus.

thanks for the information. Honest opinion, what do you think about the S710a and cingular + att network? Phones cool and all but worth switching?

there are lots of phones which have camera, mp3 player and games. you should specify, but just to name afew, the S710a, D500 etc.. from my opinion, the S710a is a good phone.. i wouldn't say that a phone is good unless it really is. with the TFT 262k pixels display, the megapixel camera and the capability of downloading alot of junk into the phone, not alot of phones would be able to beat that.. for Cingular's merger with AT&T's network.... i would say it's still pretty much the same before the merger.... they are not done with switching all the towers over yet. so that might be the cause of it.. what service are you using now? i wouldn't know how you would consider worth it, but if you have alot of friends and family using AT&T and Cingular... then you should switch too.. save you alot of mins. but to me, the reception is just moderate...

I am currently with Sprint. I have the A680, but I was looking for something that plays mp3s... I saw that sprint might have SPH-A800 from some site, which I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention in these forums under rules and regulations... but anyway, that has the capability of mp3 + it has 2mp camera... I suppose I can wait with what comes out for Sprint, since I still have a year to go with my contract...

How much can you get me the LG MM-535 for? Sprint charges old customers $380! But if ur new then you get it for $204 - $230 (depending on if you buy it online or in the store) They told me if I add another line to my account I could get it for the cheaper price..HA no thanks...

you do TOO I tried t-mobile out for 2 weeks....I dont like their service. My bill for texting alone in 2 weeks came to $64 bucks! The guy @ the store waved it for me (it ran up so high because of AIM) Only Sprint can give me both unlimited text & unlimited internet @ the same time... -------------------- |
