Hey guys...

I have a 95 coupe and am looking for some body kit options.

I purchased a complete Invader Kit and have installed the front bumper, and sideskirts. However, the rear bumper was complete shiz-zy. I spent about 20 hours and $60 in fiberglass materials and the project ended up in the trash. Either the mold or something was horrible because it did not match up with anything (the taillights, rear panel, I do know that for it to fit the coupe it needed to be extended 2 inches in either side but still, it looked horrible).

SO now to the point.

I need some ideas for either bumpers or extensions for the rear bumper of a COUPE and will fit without hourrs of complications.

I am so mad right now that I have wasted near $250 on a crappy bumper on my already tight body budget....

Please help...Images or links to such would be super awesome!

Nvrmnd found his email on another post using the HAND DANDY SEARCH TOOL!

Besides his hiro extensions, what other options are there for the coupe rear bumper. I really liked the Invader rear but it was a very crappy mold or something, is there anyone who has put it on...it might be worth it to buy it again and see if the mold is better...then again, thats a risk again...

404 lip (would still need to be modified, but a lot easier than the invader)
oem extensions. I think they make them for the coupe.

I ordered it from 97Celica and it was supposedly for the coupe but you could be right, couldve been a mix up, though I do believe the label on the inside of the bumper said 2 door.

you got any pictures of that rear bumper? depending on how bad it is maybe it would be cheaper to have a shop fit it rather than buying another one

also I don't know that a invader rear for coupe exists. I've heard it mentioned but I don't know of anyone who purchased it and fit it without some modifying

Well I had chopped the sides off and extended them two inches to get it to fit and it eventually did. But where the bumper met the lights and the rear panel was horrible. The rear panel would not fit at all, and I took it too a few shops, and they said the only way to get it to fit in below the rear panel would be to mold the shape of the original bumper and then fiberglass that and chop it onto the invader rear. Its hard to explain it but pretty much where the bumper has a dip in the top where the rear panels sits in it, the shape was no where near to that of the rear panel - very crappy bumper. The shops estimated at least 400-500 dollars to chop up the bumper, mold it to fit and put it on.

Ive had enough with this bumper and wasted enough time.

I currently have my car in pieces because I am repainting it myself (im a broke ass mofo) and I have my car sanded down to metal but havent been able to move on to the etching primer because I have been trying to deal with this bumper. Rather than waste more time and a lot more money trying to get this bumper to work witht he coupe, I went and bought some hiro extensions from chrisc just this evening, so hopefully they will fit perfectly...

It is really too bad that not really any kits at all are made for the coupes...kinda sucks for us coupe guys though theres not as many of us as hatches I guess...

Sort of off topic, but I was curious as to whether or not the aftermarket JDM tailights fit a coupe, I figured if my car is a part and I am doing all this work I should put them on.

ah so the invader rear you bought was in bad shape to begin with

to answer your question, no the jdm hatchback tails will not fit. however we coupes get curren taillights, which look better imo, click my sig for pictures

I thought there wasnt an invader rear bumper for the coupe? Only the liftback rear bumper and it has to be modified to fit? i know sphinx has it on his coupe, but he has an AUTHENTIC Veilside kit, that might make a difference. PM or email him see what he tells you. There are a couple of people on the site that have it to fit but it can be done.

And yeah the JDM coupe tails look sexxy too, i have them on mine also.

Yeah, the modification necessary to make the bumper fit is to extend it, because it is about two inches too short on either side of the bumper where it meets the tire well. So in order to fit it, you have to chop the sides off and then fill in two inches of fiberglass between the pieces.

The problem with my bumper I got though was that the curvature around the lights and where the rear panel sits was complete crap, it didnt fit at all period, so in order to have made it fit I would have to mold on the original bumper with fiberglass to get the exact curvature, and then take that mold and ghetto-chop it onto the invader rear...too much time and money if I would have had to do it, and definately a lot less than if a shop had to do it. For the money part of it, it just turned out to be cheaper to trash it and get some extensions, not to mention I wouldnt have to mess with fitting it to sit perfectly on my car. smile.gif

I just cant wait till I get all this body work done, once I am finished with fitting the kit and I paint my car, I can move on to my engine swap.
